Battery issue
#21
Fast-forward 2 years. I'm reviving this thread because my new 2016 Fit EX CVT - which I started leasing less than 2 months ago and now has about 1,200 miles on it - would not start this (Sunday) morning.
I called Honda Roadside Assistance, who came and looked under the hood and showed me the bad battery: corroded, cracked, and leaking battery acid. They gave me a jump start, and I drove it directly to the Honda dealership, where I left it overnight and dropped the smart key in the Night Drop with a note. (I also mentioned the crappy/noisy/sticky front wiper blades in my note.)
I'll be calling the dealer's Service Department first thing tomorrow (Monday) morning. This and other battery- and wiper-related threads here indicate these are Known Issues. I would like HondaCustSvc to respond.

Well the car started up fine this morning at the dealer, and the battery tested fine too. I let them keep the car for a second night to see if it starts again tomorrow morning and to again confirm the battery is a good battery. As long as it starts fine and tests good they cannot replace the battery under warranty. They claim that - despite what Honda Roadside Assistance said - the battery is not cracked and not leaking, but they did acknowledge some terminal corrosion that they cleaned up.
The theory is that, as it's a 2016 and not a 2017, this car could have been sitting at the purchase dealer's storage lot for a long time, and maybe they even had another Fit to prep for a buyer that had a dead battery, so to save time they swapped its battery for the one from my future car. No way of knowing.
They did affirm that I was right about the front wiper blades and replaced them under warranty, no questions asked.
