Radio question???

Radio question???
with the battery problems I've been having I wanted to make sure I had my retrieval codes for my radio in the event I need to replace the battery. I called two dealerships and American Honda and was told that no code was needed on the 2015 fits? Is this true? does this mean I can just swap the radio out and no code would be needed? would this radio work in any car or just the fit I have? I'm curious. I don't want to have a car that I can't have a radio
BTW there was no card with the codes on it in any of the paperwork or manuals that I got when I bought the car but the manual clearly states one is needed

I have an ex-l No codes or cards were given to me. I'm not understanding why? the manual states how to put codes in but I have no codes. I went on line and it shows a retrieval but you have to know your vin which I do and have a card I never got. Now Honda is telling me our radios don't need codes. So in theory my radio can be put in any fit and work? My CRV requires a code if we change the battery or the radio doesn't work

IRRC, I found the radio device serial number in the menus, and used that and the VIN to retrieve my radio code on a web site. I stored it in my Honda Owners account.
edit: I see you found tmfit's post. That's the one that led me to the menus.
