New to Forum and Honda Link Question

Hello Everybody!

I just purchased a Honda City EX (Here on Mexico the top level Fit does not have Honda Link and the City is basically a Sedan Fit) overall the car looks pretty nice, and i prefer to get to talk to people closer rather than get in Asian Forums

I do have one question, i have an Android Phone and i am not looking forward to get an Iphone to fully use the Sound System, but i am wondering if i can use an Ipod Touch Instead to use Sygic on the Car (don't know why nobody calls it by that but i do like Sygic specially when i have no data connection)

I'll be posting a few pics when it's daytime

Thanks

It looks like Sygic is a GPS app for Android/iPhone… I'm not familiar with it, but if it requires a data connection, an iPod Touch isn't going to work for running Sygic.

But maybe what you meant is whether you can run Sygic on your Android and use your iPod for music? I would assume you could do that - just plug the iPod into the USB port in your armrest and choose it as the audio source.

If you mean you want to have Sygic displayed on the built-in radio screen, I doubt you will be able to do that. If you don't buy the EX/L Nav trim level, Honda does still sell a $60 US navigation app that requires you connect your iPhone with an HDMI adapter. No idea if they have a version of the app for your market. I have it, and it's pretty basic and a bit buggy.

Eventually, Honda is supposed to support CarPlay and Android Auto, but no-one has any idea when (or if) that will happen.

You could certainly run Sygic on the iPod (assuming it will work on the Touch) and mount the Touch where you can see it while driving using an aftermarket mount.

I did take a look and I don't know why this is only marketed for Mexico

Look at the link (it is in Spanish) don't know if the Mexico app store is different

http://www.honda.mx/hondalink/

But if the Honda app works on an ipod it does look tempting to buy one for the gps use

From the honda.mx site, it looks like they are using Sygic as their Nav app in HondaLink… no idea if it will work on an iPod Touch or not, though.
