Trade-in value of a 2015 Fit
Oh, I'm hanging on to my Fit for awhile. It's just too amazing with all it does. Had to zip around holiday traffic today and I had a blast. I feel bad for other people who have paid so much for cars and are having half the fun driving that I am.
Trying to at least.... and have had plenty of sleep to think about
The Fit just hasn't been what I thought it was going to be. The quality issues have been aggravating and unexpected.
I find the Sonic to be much more refined on the road; quieter and more composed. The gearing of the manual is much better sorted, and the front seats are more comfortable with plentiful legroom. I also like the styling much more, I don't get the Fit's odd creases and holes in the bumper. The Sonic's pseudo motorcycle theme is kinda cool. Lastly, buying a car made here in the US makes me just feel better as well.
To me, the only things that the Fit does better than the Sonic are rear seat room (I'm not back there anyway, and it still beats the Fiesta), fuel economy, and I do know (unless I get a lightly used one) resale will kill me

Good luck with it whichever way you go.
Well, I guess if its a better fit for you. I didnt drive the manual Sonic or Fit so cant comment on it. I seem to remember a little bit better left leg room in the Sonic as sometimes I find myself pushing my leg on the dead pedal in the Fit. I'm the other way on the Chevy's and the Fit's styling. I know from your other threads your Fit woes, which really really suck, so I imagine if I'd gone thru the same thing I might feel the same.
Good luck with it whichever way you go.

Thanks Robert for the understanding response. I really, really wanted to like the Fit. I wouldn't have bought it as my first NEW car if I didn't.
As someone else stated, I'm biased toward owning American cars. Aside from my old "collector car", a 1988 Daihatsu Charade with 50k miles, all of my cars have been American. It's probably silly, but it makes me feel good knowing that I helped the local economy and spawned jobs here. And all my cars have been pretty trouble free. My parents had some major issues with GM when I was a kid, so I tended to stay with Ford, and my last Focus was not only fun, but also reliable in the six years I had it.
I felt a bit dirty buying a Japanese brand, but the new Fiesta and Focus are too cramped for me, and I was still a little untrusting of GM. I felt better knowing the Honda would be reliable, based on my experience with the Charade. That car is built like a bank vault and has had no mechanical issues or even rattles despite being 27 years old. It represents how well 1980's Japan built its cars. Unfortunately, the Fit has been very problematic.
I'll be taking the Fit on a Memorial Day trip this weekend and see how I feel about it after a few hours behind the wheel, and will see how the dent drama goes in a couple of days.
Still like the Fit and it's an insanely practical small car. It just hasn't been the carefree experience I had expected from Honda or any Japanese brand.
Carmax offer on 5/23/2015
I just got back from Carmax (05-23-2015) and my Fit was appraised at: $12,500.
Seems a bit low to me, but well, at least it gives me an idea.
For reference, I have a yellow LX MT with 4,092 miles at appraisal. This was in the Houston area.

Did you tell them you would be buying your replacement from them? When I had mine appraised, I made the mistake of telling them I would not be buying my replacement from CarMax, and they came in $2,000.00 cheaper on my 2008 Base Fit that either of the local Honda dealers did.

I don't think I'm going to replace my Fit, but the idea crosses my mind now and then.
^^^THIS! Automatic CVT for me! I'm a Subaru guy at heart! Enjoying the mpg right now though.
You might also get better treatment on the trade with a Honda dealership.

CarMax tried to get my 2008 Fit on the cheap.....$2,000 less than I sold it to a local Honda Dealer for. I wanted to get the car sold so I could go on a hunt for the new 2015. I was afraid either my Wife of Daughter would wreck the car before we could find it's replacement, so I sold it to the highest bid from a variety of Honda dealers. Car Max came in way low....
What did you think of the Prius C? The gas mileage and green factor would be the only reasons to go from a Fit to the C.
Now, having said that, the main reasons would be the gas mileage, more comfortable seats, and that I actually liked its dorky interior and the fact that the AC can be set to a specific temperature. I do think that the Fit is more fun to drive, is more spacious, is faster, has a more airy cabin and a more ergonomically practical use of space, has a sleeker style inside and out, has better visibility, and a few other things.
So I do like me Fit and think that it has a lot going for it, but based on my personal preferences (especially the MPGs), I would get the Prius C, BUT ONLY IF I find one at a price that would net me about even with the trade-in value of the Fit. So I'll look, but I won't go crazy over it.

It was a 2013 which I ended up trading for the new Fit. It was mostly personal annoyances. I certainly wouldn't discourage anyone to buy a Prius C because I think it would provide reliable transportation for a long time. In fact, I wouldn't have thought about getting rid of it until the tail light filled with water and the ac/heater buttons stopped working. I got mad an decided to test drive the new Fit. I'll admit though, I'm biased. My heart has always been with the Fit since I test drove one five years ago. So, it didn't take the sales guy long to talk me into buying it.
For me, I made the right decision. If I start having little issues with it over time, I'll fix them without getting as mad because I love this car.
I'm not sure if you saw my post about what I didn't like about the Prius C:

However, due to financial reasons, I'll only consider a Prius C if I run into a good deal, but other than that, I'm still satisfied enough with the Fit. I just wish I could get solid 40s for MPGs (I do get them as you can see from my fuelly, but it takes some work to get there, especially when I hit traffic jams and red lights).
That's crazy, you can get a new one for less than that.
That seems to be common at Carmax. Quite often a used one or two year old car is the same price as a brand new one, or sometimes even more. There is a Carmax about two miles from me, and I'll go there on weekends when I'm bored, and sometimes find the ridiculous prices amusing (but also sad since they are no-haggle and people actually pay those prices when they could have had a new car instead). The concept of depreciation doesn't seem to apply to them.
It's the perfect place to go when you don't know anything about cars and want to buy somewhere relaxing and without pressure. However, that happy facade does cloak some heavily inflated and unfair pricing

For the Memorial Day weekend as a special promotion, Beepi offered me $15,200 today for the Fit. That is mighty tempting. They guarantee to sell the car for me for at least that much, within 30 days, or will buy the car from me after that.
Funny thing is now I'm actually starting to feel sad with the thought that I may see this car go. I really, really, really wanted to like it, and still do in many ways

Wow, that does seem really low. Like someone said, that'd end up selling your Fit for upwards of $17k. No deal [slamming down the button]
Just my two cents: initial quality issues can be aggravating, but they're not always a great way to judge the overall longevity of the car. Your car is still under warranty, and thus even if it has more issues you'll be safe for a while. IMO, it doesn't make any real sense to lose money on quickly selling a car you just bought new, when it's still under warranty and there's no guarantee whatever you replace it with will be any better.
I've got 10K on mine and the initial little concerns I had seem to have all been worked out.

Now that reality is hitting and I could possibly sell the car through Beepi, I'm realizing that it's a terrible idea financially. Any new car is an awful investment, and getting hit with depreciation twice in less than one year on the second car is even more painful. And there is no guarantee that the next car could be better, especially since it'd likely be a GM product.
The warranty is still in effect for the time being, and these are all factors to consider.
