2015 Honda Fit EX CVT Road/Wind/Engine Noise?
#23
I find the FIT wind noise quite acceptable up to about 70mph, I live in Uruguay and I usually do 90-95 on the highway in low traffic situations, at that speed the wind noise is too much for me, most probably the FIT will end as my wife's car (99% city driving) and buy a Golf for me.
The 1.4 150hp 7 speed DSG Golf sold here is quieter at 110 than the FIT EX CVT At 85 (I tested them both with a DB meter)
Edit: The FIT and the Golf are made in Mexico, in the same plants that the US versions.

Even if you get caught (very, very, very unusuall) the speeding ticket would be around USD250. Given that, as an example, a Honda CRV costs USD58.000, paying 250 every three or four years (or more) is not an issue.
Not proud of this, but it's how thing are.

I so wish honda had geared 6th to relax cruise at 2,200 RPM at 75. The gearing as it is now is ridiculous. I wish I'd test drove on the freeway. I would have likely chose the CVT.

Unfortunately, if your manual was geared for 2200 RPM at 75, the engine would be lugging in 6th gear. You'd be complaining about having to downshift over every bump in the road, and you'd be doing damage to the engine. It's a 92 cubic inch DOHC 4, not a 400 cubic inch pushrod V8.
To be sure, mine had a bit of wind noise when I bought it, but I traced it to a loose door seal, which I simply pushed back into place. The car is much quieter now.
As for the engine noise, I LOVE hearing the snarl of the engine when I wind it up through the gears. That's what I live for! Of course, my other "ride" is a 21 year old Harley-Davidson (I've owned it since new, and put 191,000 miles on it), so my perspective might be a bit skewed.

My dashmat (black) arrived a few days ago and couldn't be happier with the reduction in engine noise and glare. As I suspected, the hard dashboard and windshield combine to reflect a lot of sound. Only under harder acceleration when the CVT goes into full leaf blower mode is the engine all that loud. Seems like a little less wind noise as well. Road noise about the same.
Fitfolksinger - where did you get your dashmat? Can you provide a link?
Thanks

I have an LX cvt and I dont think this is a loud car at all. Ive had nicer cars that were much louder due to performance tires, and ive had older cars that were louder due to of wind noise.
This new fit with CVT has a nice mechanical sound that keeps you in touch with whats going on if you listen for it, but its not loud.
