3k miles in -- My review/feedback on my WOP 6MT
Hi all!
Picked up my WOP EX 6MT around Thanksgiving week. This is my first time buying a new car since my GTI back in 2003. I've had a few used cars in between.
I currently live in NYC and used the car sparingly for local uses (ie. Costco runs, visiting friends/family in the tri-state area). Most of the miles are attributed to road tips to Montreal, Poconos, and Boston so far.
What I like about the Fit:
---excellent gas mileage! I track my fuel ups on the Fuelly app.
---the short throws on the MT
---great size for a city car; easy parking and super spacious with the hatch and magic seat configurations
---lane watch cam/vid
---A freshly washed and waxed WOP looks amazing and gets many looks and thumbs up from people on the road
What I don't like about the Fit:
---front and rear stock wiper blades are horrible; not matter how much I wipe them clean, they quickly revert to leaving streaks and sometimes missing areas on the glass (must be losing contact at some points); I'll look to replace them soon and apply rain-x as well
---the gear ratio on the 6MT; I thought it was just me, but then I stumbled on the thread of about the ratios and agree that Honda missed the boat on this one by giving us a 4 1/2 gear, instead of a taller gear for a true 6th
---ventilation/defrosting in the cabin; we all know how the weather was in the east coast this past winter season, so it's only natural to use the in cabin defrost feature for the cabin. I find that most of the time that my driver and front passenger main windows clear up unevenly and in splotches, and sometimes have to crank up the fan to 4 in order to get my windows clear of the condensation
---HondaLink Radio system; convenient, but can be extremely frustrating sometimes. I connect my iPhone (iOS 8.1.3) via bt, and sometimes the unit goes into a mock phone call whenever I receive app alerts/updates and when I change coordinates on Google Maps. I'll try to pay attention next time this happens to see if I can pin point exact replication steps to get to this error. For me, the only way to get out of this phantom phone call (even though I have pressed the hang up call button), is to turn the car off, and turn it back on again. Annoying.
Overall, I really like my GK5, and can live with the shortcoming of the MT, but really wish I can find a way to get past the issues with the radio set throwing that phantom phone call.

I have you beat. 2800 miles since the end of June. I love everything but the difficulty checking the coolant, the schmutz that gets left on the drivers side when you run the wiper to clean the windshield, and that the driver side accessory mat comes loose and edges towards the accelerator. That's it!

Try WAZE for navigation. It is lightyears better than the Honda NAV system, and I believe it uses google maps too. So far over 3500 miles with zero interference with hondalink. Could it be the Iphone? I have a G2 Android.
I purchased my FIT (my first new car purchase also) November of 2015 and I've already racked up a bit over 13k miles (I do pizza delivery and yeah, miles rack up quickly). It's a 6MT EX and although I know it's slow, it still feels fun to drive.
I am also not much of a fan of the HondaLink feature. Coming from a 2012 VW GLI and a 2011 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid, both of their interfaces for placing calls and giving speech commands were nearly flawless, maybe a translation error 1% or 2% of the time. However, after I've fussed and tried to say my contact's names as correctly as possible, I've given up and I just dial them on my cell instead. My girlfriend constantly states she has issues hearing me while talking as well.
All things considered, after putting forth all these miles I still love the car and I'm kind of curious into trying to tune it to make it a bit more fun. I'm a novice when it comes to anything mechanical (most I've done is disassemble some carbs off of a motorcycle and clean 'em) so I'll be browsing here for some insight and inspiration.

If you can disassemble carbs you will have about zero trouble doing bolt-on modifications to a car. Unfortunately there is zip out there right now for the new FITs. Im sure there will be in the next year or 2
