Oil life indicator stuck?

I know there is a ton of debate about people who go by the oil life indicator or not to change oil. I don't want to reignite that debate. However I am concerned my indicator may be legit stuck/froze. I feel as if it's been at 40% for a very long time. I just drove a long distance from Virginia Beach to Atlanta and it didn't budge a bit. And it was at 40% for a fair while before I even made the trip. Am I being paranoid or has anyone heard of this happening on their 2015?

Highway miles are very easy on oil. At least with the GE8's—and I don't know why it would be different with the new ones—it's quite common to get over 10,000 miles between changes when doing predominantly highway driving. Your trip is maybe 5% of the oil life, and since the display goes by 10% increments, it's not surprising you don't see a change.

The oil life indicator drops by 10% increments until you hit 15%. Depending on how you drive, it may be as much as 1,000 miles between "drops". At least that's been the case for me.

Mine was at 30% at 10K miles. Went ahead and changed oil and filter anyway. (C:

Not sure if yours is stuck or not. I'm at 80% with 1800 miles with mixed driving.

Mine sits a long time at any given percentage, then quickly drops to the next lower percentage. I still don't trust marketing gimmics, so changed the oil when it hit 30%, and will at 3-4k in the future. Oil is cheap. Engines are not.

Mine is at 90% at 1,500 mi. Thankfully my dealer says they will change it at 7,000mi for free regardless what % it is at (I got free oil changes for life when I bought it).

yah, wat Drew said. i think it goes by rpm more so than distance.

just go by the obc, not the dealer. if u go past a year, i'd change the oil though. i use the 0w20 green caps Mobil1.

The book says to change the oil once a year regardless of how much you drive.
