Date of manufacture?

I read that there is a sticker on the driver's door jamb indicating date of manufacture. Is it somewhere else or did that get skipped on my car? I searched the threads before posting...apologies if this has already been addressed. Thanks.

Yes....on the drivers side on the body where the door meets.

That's what I was afraid of...sticker is missing on my car. Thanks for the confirmation.

You should still be able to find it based on the VIN. Online VIN decoders might not be able to get the date but a Honda dealership should be able to.

That's the next step...use VIN to obtain the Monroney sticker and date of manufacture. Thanks everyone.

Hard to believe that sticker is missing. It contains information required by federal law for a vehicle to be sold. It's the sticker that says something to the effect that, "this vehicle conforms to all applicable federal safety and emission regulations in effect on the date of mfr. shown." It will then have the month/year of build and the build location.

It's like one of those tags on a mattress that says, "do not remove under penalty of law." Omission of that label can get a manufacturer in big trouble.

If not the door jamb, what about on the door itself?

There is no easy way to say this...the sticker is very dark and blends nicely with the metallic steel paint but it is there on the side of the jamb. I feel quite embarrassed. <sheepish shrug and eyeroll>

If you're lucky, you can find the EXACT build day on the back of some of your interior trim panels; otherwise, you'll begetting a vague idea from the VIN sticker on the driver's door jam.

Yes, many molded parts have date codes molded into them for inventory control. Also helpful in case of a defect/recall down the road. Still, that only tells you when that piece was made, not when it was put into a car. That molding may have sat in inventory for weeks or months before it was assembled into a car. The only thing you can tell from a date code is that the car can't be OLDER than that molding (assuming it's original to the car).

This is similar to dating old electric guitars by the date codes on the potentiometers. Useful, but not always definitive.

On my white Fit, that sticker "sticks out" like the proverbial sore thumb-impossible to miss.
