EX Home Page Screen

Is there a way to have the home page appear as the default screen at the start up of the vehicle?

I have gone through all the settings with no luck. Including the "last screen" option.

Both on and off setting doesn't seem to have any affect.

The Audio/Information Screen always reverts to the last screen displayed other than the Home Page before the car was turned off.

I have tried everything I can think of to display the Home Screen at the startup of the car, after the warning is shown.

Leaving the touch screen on the home page before shutting off the car doesn't work.

I have tried going through the menu system. Toggling the Customizable Feature, "Remember Last Screen" On and Off.

"On" and "Off" give me the same result.

The display always goes back to the last screen send before the home page.

Is this the same for everyone's display on there EX?

Please help...thanks.

I don't mind the warning. I don't know why...but I can accept having a disclaimer flashing across the screen.

It just bugs the hell out of me that I can't start the car and have a home screen as an automatic "home base" without physically pressing the home button.

I never noticed how it behaved before.

I was constantly on the Info screen tracking my MPGs.

It was only yesterday I decided to leave my touch screen on the home page and I regret that adjustment.

Because now my OCD has kicked in big time...

And I must conquer this home screen. Must.

I wish you could have the mpg info scroll across the top, regardless of your screen.
I did finally get a scangauge, so I likely just need to learn how to fully use it. :\

Update on my touch screen woes

So after doing a factory reset, reading the owner's manual front and back, unhooking the battery and jumping up and down three times while facing south...I decided to visit my local Honda dealership.

After explaining the issue of my home screen's failure to appear when I turn on the car, the service advisor herself attempted to find a solution...to no avail.

Two hours, three service advisors and a self proclaimed "tech expert" salesman later, I'm driving home with my car now only going to the Phone Screen at startup.

Instead of the previous function popping up (Phone, Info, Audio...) Only the Phone screen is now displayed when the car is started.

Soooooo with that...and a lot of, "I've never seen this happen before." I am scheduled for there next available appointment this Monday at 9am.

Crossing me fingers...

Results of service visit

After visiting the service department over issues with my touch screen, I was told that there was nothing that could be done.

The service advisor and a Honda tech explained that opening up the car's dash and touchscreen would accomplish nothing. The actual issue being a glitch in the software.

I was told Honda was working on a firmware update and as soon as it's ready, I would be notified.

In the meantime, I will just have to live with the glitch.

So...waiting patiently for the update.

At least the car is functioning properly mechanically...

Are you having other issues with the screen besides the home screen problem? This is the first I've heard of any firmware update; I hope it's true and they're not just feeding you a line of BS ...

I do have a sneaky suspicion; but who knows.

The service advisor's line was, "I'd hate to take the car away from you all day, tear it open, only to find out what I already know...that it's a software issue and you have a glitch in your system."

As far as other issues, I brought two more up. Both were explained away as being normal features or operations. Ooooookaaaay....I guess.

Other than the home page, I questioned the clock location menu. The only setting that worked was "Off." Nothing else. Lower Left...Upper Left...Lower Right...

No matter what location I chose...the clock stayed in the upper right hand corner of the screen.

I was told this setting was applicable when a video was playing through the HDMI input...which I don't have the $100 dongle so I haven't been able to verify.

The third issue I brought up was a prompt that kept appearing. There is an earlier thread that discusses this, but no resolution was found; so I decided to ask the dealership. It concerns the Info screen while showing current estimated MPG.

From a stop this message appears, "This function is not available while the vehicle is in motion."

The explanation given was MPG could not be calculated while the car was at a stop, therefore the function was not available.

Yep

Okay...just gotta wait for this "firmware" update.

To help me ease my concern, the service advisor told me his Civic has similar issues. Including wrong caller ID's being shown when a phone call or text is received.

I'll guess we'll see.

In the meantime, the car is great and is everything I could ask for. Fuel mileage is a blessing, coming from a half-ton Dodge Ram with the big 5.7 liter V8 Hemi, my fill ups are a much more pleasant experience.

The car functions perfectly mechanically and the software glitches affecting it aren't major enough to balance out the good, so I'll live with it for now.

It'd be nice to have a car functioning 100% how it was designed to...no matter how small the issues. But if Honda is working on a fix...I'll go with that for a while.

yeah you right, sounds kinda fucked up. I think I remember playing with that clock and everything worked fine. If you have a laptop with an HDMI port, you could check it that way, dongle is not necessary.
