So, My girl friends android always tries to mirror link when she plugs it in via usb. We are just trying to charge it. How do i disable mirror link on her phone and make it just charger her phone? She does not want to use any of the honda features, just wants to charge phone.

There are USB data cables and USB charge-only cables. The charge-only cables have the data line cut, I think. You can also make your own sharge-only cable from a data cable. Search Google. Othewise you could try a 12v to USB power adapter, though not very elegant.
Depending on the Android phone there might be a charge only setting when USB connected. I know that many LGs have this feature.

I don't like charging using the built in USB plugs, they are really low amp and the phone charges very slowly. I much prefer dedicated 2.1 amp plugs from a cigarette adapter.
I guess if you really have to use the built in plugs, can you use the plug in the center armrest?

To get around this you have to ROOT the phone and install a new kernel that enables quick charging over USB. The port in the Civic actually supplies a fair amount of current and can charge the phone while using mirrorlink however the phone does get very hot (due to high CPU activity and high current charging).
There is thermal protection built-in however I would keep it in power saving mode and not use it for long periods.

Is this a phone specific limitation?
