fascinating fit feature
Thanks for telling us. I'll go with styling and engineering. The last car I had (2008 Suzuki SX4) the passenger side wiper extended a little beyond the edge of the glass, not by much, but just enough to be noticeable. The Suzi was a good little car, but they didn't catch the little details. Honda still makes mistakes, nobody's perfect. Even million dollar Lambo's have faults.
Having every part of the blade always touching glass isn't important. Having it long enough to clear the glass you're looking through is. Losing an inch of overhang in the park position means losing an inch at the top and bottom of your field of view. Positioning the arms differently would be even worse.
Honda did it on purpose.

Except I've been experimenting with that gap, and have filled it temporarily. I don't have enough time with it yet, but first impressions are the wind noise on that side is significantly less if I make it look like the drivers side. Not sure why it was needed to begin with...
VW's have a service position to change the wipers, but then tuck under the hood cowl out of the airstream to reduce wind noise and mpg (which having the wipers out of the way actually makes a significant difference)
I've been trying to figure out why the wind noise on the passenger side is so bad compared to the drivers side, which is at least tolerable.
