Honda Fit in the 2015 Car and Driver Lightning Lap

If you haven't picked up the latest Car and Driver(Yes, I still buy print magazines), they did a lap in a "normal" car, their long-term Fit. A 6MT EX, it did a lap of VIR in 3:37.7. Just for comparison a Fiesta ST timed at 3:20.4, and the 2015 Z06 did 2:44.6!!!

Wonder what some stickier 205s, and a Spoon suspension would do for the time.

Thanks for the heads up. I don't subscribe to C&D, but I want this issue.

Just as a bit of perspective, the Fit's lap time was several seconds slower than the next-slowest car.

Yeah, but I bet it used the least amount of fuel getting around the track.

True, but C&D's point was that it was so much fun to have the foot flat to the floor all the way around the track. The other cars were supposed to be performance cars in their class and the Fit was "ordinary".

The article supports my point for an Si version between the EX and the EX-L. No leather, no CVT, better gear spacing, better performance tuning (after all, the engine is already a DOHC iVTEC.). Add the wink mirrors and a few decals and fill the gap between the EX and the full bling EX-L.

I'd buy, but not likely to be able. After all, I'll be 75 on Bruce Lee's birthday.

It would probably lower the lap time to 3:35!

Yeah. Kinda hard to imagine the rubber or the suspension was ever the limiting factor for the Fit. Number of rats on the treadmill, however…

The crap tires being replaced would definitely knock off more than 3 seconds on their own.
