oem air filter replacement

after having the fit for over a year, i was in need of an air filter. i was unable to find a cheaper aftermarket replacement for the stock filter. not a big fan of k&n on cars that i want to stay around for a while, so i had to bite the bullet and buy an oem one.

for future reference, the part number is 17220-5R0-008. also, make sure that you locate the tab on the right side of the filter, and put it back in the same spot. my friend was helping me, and was unable to put the air box cover on because he spun the filter 180 degrees...

How many miles were on it when you changed it?

the air filter will filter better the dirtier it gets. Soon you just start losing mpgs because it is so clogged up and no air can get through.

Getting ready for a major, cross country road trip. Want to check the filter & have this replacement here. Can't seem to find where it goes?

From what I understand, with modern fuel-injected engines you don't actually see much if any change in gas milage, as the ECU adjusts the fuel for the actual amount air. You just lose power, exactly like driving with a throttle valve that won't open all the way.
