Blue "light bulb" at bottom of radio section?

Does anyone know what this is? If you look at the bottom of the dash panel with the radio and video display, there is an indentation that looks like it is for a screw, but it actually contains a hole. I removed the panel and saw that it there was a light-bulb-like socket with a light-bulb-like thing in it, that was wired parallel to the little lightbulbs for the dash panel, but this "bulb" had was a blue opaque coating on it. Correction: it is in the panel with the HVAC controls, not the radio panel.

It's an LED, to softly illuminate the tray below it?

I took another look and it's in the panel with the HVAC controls, not the panel with the radio. Yes, the tray is below it, but I've never seen any illumination in that tray. Perhaps it is a dummy bulb that they install that they replace with a real bulb if you get the blue illumination accessory package.

Isn't the cubby hole behind the cup holders illuminated? It's very subtle.

Yes, there is a VERY dim lamp illuminating the area behind the cup holders. That's where I keep the garage door opener.

Y'all are right. I went and looked at it again at night, and the little storage space and 2 cup holders are very dimly lit up. When I put my hand there, I saw that my hand was lit up. I never noticed it before - the amount of light is practically useless since the black plastic doesn't reflect enough light for it or anything in it to be noticable unless I am looking for it.

If it's like the ambient light kit in my Civic, you can take apart the housing and remove the blue lens disc (filter?) which will make it brighter. The LED inside is blue already.

The "cup holder light" in my '15 is white, not blue.

I can confirm this too on my '15. There is a blue "skin" on the LED that makes it look blue.

Mine LED has a blue skin but the light in the cup-holder looks white anyway.

How is it installed? I'd like to put a brighter one in there...is it just a plug in or is it soldered into a board

Please, someone tell me how to make this light brighter? Right now it is merely a tease to say there is illumination, but not enough to make it useful.

Is there a lens that I can remove? Is it a coating on the led bulb? Can I replace it with something brighter?

Remove the light assembly and take it apart, remove the small round lens/filter/whatever it is from the housing, if equipped.
Reassemble and plug in and check if it works.
Reinstall in car.

Yes, it is an ambient light to see your "stuff" not really helpful indeed but a nice touch tho. First I though it was broken until i see it illuminates my stuff a little bit.
I think you can put a led strip to make it brighter not sure if is posible not a tech guy here.

My 13' has small incandescent bulb to lighten cup holders and storage. While changing all other bulbs white, ill change that blue to keep with the blue scheme of dash and navigation at night. Will also be enough light to give some glow towards the floor. I'm going on 1st Gen TSX front cabin.

I tried to get to this panel but did not see how to remove it. I was able to remove the 12v power/USB/Aux in panel. How do I remove the panel above this, the one with the dim bulb?

You can download the English language user manual from the Honda (US) web site.
