Anyone successful in removing this panel? I'd like to change the bulb as well.

I tried for the second time to move this panel, just above the 12v/aux/USB and failed. I can't even feel the wire going to the LED. I also cannot find any way to unclip anything. Is it attached to the environmental controls? The 12v/aux/USBpanel comes out easily enough.

I have a feeling it's a full dismantle of the dash. A workshop manual would be great.

Lights are cast off illumination from the HVAC LEDs?

I found an old thread for the GE ('09-'13) on their HVAC LEDs. Illumination of their cup holders is simply extra lighting from the 4 LEDs. it sounds just like our 2015s.

if you take apart the hvac you can see 2 holes directly above the little lenses in the white inner plastic piece, perfect size and location for some leds to shine down and out the lens (into the cup holders)
Here's another linked thread on interior lighting from 2006, but it has no images.

It may be that the HVAC LEDs are the ones you need to change. Could the 2015 design be exactly the same as the GE design? Are there any GE owners out there that can comment?

@Action Jackson Thanks for the digging. With that I think I'll not rip my HVAC apart just for the LED. It would be easier to add an external LED over the cup holders. So much for an easy change of an LED bulb.

It looks like bolt/screw 15 is the culprit. If removing the glovebox will give access to it, then maybe panel 2 will be easy to remove.

From the photos there is also screws on the left side, near the keyless start button. You'll need to pull off part of the driver's panel as well.

It looks like #8 driver's side garnish, lower cover assembly also needs to be removed.

Wait I forgot why you want to take this appart. Why dont you put a ambient light insted? Isn;t easier, nicer and better?

Just saying. I have seen it in the forum before and they look sick.

Yes, it would be much easier to add ambient LEDs to the cup holder. The existing LED in the cup holder area has so little light that it is not useful. I thought that it would be easy to replace the existing LED with a brighter one, but to get to the bulb is getting complex.

This video is not applicable to the 2015/2016, but thanks anyway. It is so easy to change the bulb on he 2012. For the 2016 I cannot even get the outer covers off. The bulb seems to be integrated into the environmental controls unit, and only cast off light gets to the cup holders. The bulb is not even very near to the outer plastic cover, or the cup holders, hence why they are so dim.

I installed some component speakers. Basically to get at this bulb, you do have to go through a long dismantling to get at the touchscreen display unit.

The bulb is held in by a twist type bayonet. While it may be possible to take it out without dismantling, it was impossible, even for my skinny little fingers to put it back in (when everything is assembled). There's a clip so close to the holder, that it makes it impossible to bend the plastic cover enough to get at this bulb.
