Battery Died Today
9500 miles and 17 months into ownership, my battery died today.
I went to go run some errands today and when I hit the start button, I heard the starter click about 8 times and it gave up.
After pushing the car out of my garage I jumped it and headed out to the Honda dealer.
First battery test said the cell was bad. Second test said it was good. So at first, they didn't want to replace it under warranty.
They tell me since the test said the cell was good, they can't replace it under warranty. Frustrated, I get into my car and it wouldn't start again right there in the service bay.
After that, they ended up putting in a new battery.

It's the damn little tester we have to use for warranty, it prints out a code with the status report and the dealer cannot file a warranty claim without that code.
If the tester says it's good, it must be good. Right? NOT
It can only test a battery one way, it cannot find all the different possible failures a battery can have, and it's only about 80% accurate.....but the bean counters seem to think that's as good as 100%.
The tester is designed so 'any idiot' can test/sell a battery.
It takes away all other available test methods and worst of all it removes human judgement from the battery tests, which is sometimes really needed in order to solve a problem....but 'any idiot' wouldn't normally have the knowledge necessary to make a judgement like that.

The young uns in our shop (oh hell, more like 2/3 of the shop employees) can't figure out what to do when this happens either....and many just don't care.
Last week I witnessed:
Car comes in for a tire going flat and 'needed a jump start this morning' complaint.
It's given to the oil changer kid.
Kid checked the battery and it passed the test (of course it passed). Staples the battery test printout to the work order.
Kid raised the car and goes to the tire and checks it.
I saw the kid had left the ignition key ON while the car was in the air.
I said 'Hey you left the key on' and he didn't do anything about it.
(I already know what's going to happen next.)
Finished the tire repair and sets the car on the ground......
No start.
He had to jump start the car to get it out of the shop, and it went 30 feet to a parking space and he shut it off.
Of course it would not start when the customer tried to leave.
Kid doesn't give a f*** about it.
It's damn embarrassing sometimes.

@Ezone, No matter the well intentioned policy, procedure or technology, there will always be some way for humans to mess it up. This, to me, makes life interesting.
Keep up the good work. With being smart comes responsibility!

Honda better loosen up the purse strings a little with this then.
I told the service manager that since the 2015's come with roadside assistance I guess I'll just be calling to have my car jumped every time it won't start. That's when he decided to put in a new battery.

I dind't know you can change the battery under the warranty nice to know for the next one. What does road assist cover? They gave me a card but my car insuranse also has one so i have never use it.

Guarantee says if changes all except for the mecanical parts. But if they do not even do recalls(my front bumper is the weak one) and they will not change it becuase it doesnt not affect performance.
And "road assist" they just gave me a card and nothing with it. Just they told me to call if i need assist in the road but it did not specify anything. I gonna call the number so I can know what does it include.

In the US the battery is warranted for 3 years/36.000 miles. I don't know if Mexico has the same.
Does the recall apply--- as determined by the status report on your cars VIN?
Does the Honda-Mexico website have any of the info? Honda - The Power of Dreams
(you may find a place to check for recalls on your car there too)
Here's a link for Honda USA roadside assistance info, but it may not be the same http://automobiles.honda.com/images/...ideservice.pdf

hope the battery was the culprit. keep us posted. could be something else, like alternator or parasitic drain..
