I don't see anywhere where I remotely suggested that. I'm just pointing out that the system is vastly more complicated than what comes out of a tailpipe. That's all I have to say on this and I'm out of here now.
And thus the short comings of typed "conversation" verses spoken, face to face. Facial expression, body language, tone of voice, and immediate response can make all the difference, Uncle Gary.
Even immediate voice response can lead to major misunderstanding.
CB conversation between Short Fuse (me) and Unknown:
SF: Breaker, breaker
U: Who we got there?
SF: Short Fuse
U: Sounds like a personal problem to me.
SF: Your wife never complained.
U: !@#$%^ ... I'm going to beat the crap out of you!!!
Fortunately he didn't know me (nor I him) or where I was.
Starting 2016 the City of North Vancouver will be attaching climate change ads to gas pump nozzles. Frankly I think it is a great idea. WeCanDoBetter.Me gets right to the source. I'm not sure of the Municipality of Courage. source

I bought a Fit because it has great gas mileage and was the best solution for our family's needs, though carbon emissions was a secondary concern. I hope that other cities adopt the same labelling bylaws.

Just what I need in my life. More people trying to make me feel guilty for living.
All feel good, no nothing laws and regulations. It proves nothing except the politicians want the gullible public to think that something is being done when it really isn't. What are these politicians driving around in? Limos, SUVs and flown to Paris in private jets.

Yup, all "do as I say, not as I do."
The guilt thing comes from my mother, who was an expert at instilling a profound sense of guilt in us boys for just about everything.
Libs being Libs. I remember growing up. We'd be completely out of fuel by 2000. Satellites originally launched to monitor global cooling. Everything is a scare tactic. Nothing changes. All lies. Nothing to see here folks. Live your life. All is fine.
I'm comfortable in the knowledge that our president created more carbon dioxide with his trip to Paris than I will ever create in a lifetime! He didn't need to be there, he's just a lame duck grasping for a legacy.
If global warming exists, it remains to be proven whether it is good or bad. A couple of degrees in warmer temperature mean longer growing seasons and crop opportunities for most of the world. Trade routes will increase as the Arctic Ocean becomes navigable. A lot is made of a few millimeters of sea level rise, but most of the people on the tiny islands affected are already subject to storm surges which are far bigger than the ocean rise. If warming were to displaces a few thousand people, but stop a million from starving due to increased food production it would seem to be worth the trade-off!
The carbon that is sequestered in the ground was created during the carboniferous era, a period of earth's history where both the oxygen and carbon dioxide levels were much higher than they are now. Oddly, this was done without any human intervention at all, it was just a part of the earth's natural cycle. The climate record has shown that our atmosphere is a stable, self-regulating entity, yet the Powers That Be would have us believe that human activity can send it reeling out of control. It's simply a scare tactic.

Not to be confused with GeorgeL below (a very logical long view on the carbon dioxide/oxygen cycle) but one based on personal observation).
One should never confuse weather and climate, but we here in the Mid-South are having a very unusual late fall / early winter. Last week Nashville came within one degree of breaking the heat record that was set in the late 1890s. Global warming then? The next day we did break a record set in the 1930s. (Over 70 degrees F both days)
There were virtually no cars in the 1890s and not many in the 1930s as compared to today. What caused the Mini Ice Age in the 1800s (wp 1300-1850)? Flatulent cows and buffalos?
Those who worship at the feet of Al Gore Jr. can meet at his Belle Meade Mansion in Nashville.
I stopped listening to Al Gore when I read that he uses something like $10,000/mo. worth of electricity in his home. My electric bill is around $50/mo.

An exaggeration, closer to $2,000/mo, natural gas included. But it is a 10,000 sq. fi. home, er, mansion. Also remember that we have TVA electric power which is a heck of a lot cheaper than what ever utility you use in New York.
Now that's just the energy use in ONE of his homes ... then there's the autos, boats, jets, and the like.
He's a energy hog ... the golden piglet statue instead of a golden calf
If you cared so much about the enviroment you'd have bought a 1989 CRX EF. Creating a new car and shipping it across the world is the worst of all, that and farming, cattle and industrial waste. I got it because it was cheap and has bluetooth. (and i like hondas history of small stick shift hatches and wanted to give it a shot)

I made the case for that back in post #18, and I got flamed for implying that I favored throwing people out of work, and got called a socialist for my trouble.
Yes, my car is new (cars rust too fast up here), but my Harley is 22 years old. Does that count?
VW is the only mfg. that is purposefully making "dirtier" autos. If you know of others, please name. It has been my experience that Hondas start out "clean" and stay clean even if not well maintained, i.e. my Civic station wagon.
Every single car manufacturer in the us has been caught "cooking" the software.
If you actually go through all the specs the hype over the VW thing is lame. They are ragging on the fact that the car is like a percent high on Nox, but its OK to lose 8 MPG to make it right? Bad Science.. They keep throwing out wild number about the emissions being 10 or more times worse than the spec, but when your talking parts per billion... we are counting molecules..
Ford has a big fine years ago when it was proven they had code in the ECU that detected if the drivers door was open to go in to a clean program. They figured out the EPA test guys did all their testing on a stationary dyne with the door open so they could connect the OBDII connector. All they did was cut a wire to fix it..
How do you KNOW the honda is cleaner? I have a LM1 exhaust meter, so I can check my vehicles, if I want. I usually don't worry as long as they are running correctly.. I figure in the world scheme of things thats the 99% battle.
