100,384 miles update

Just turned 100,384 miles on a delivery returning from North Carolina to Cleveland.

Purchased the 2015 FIT new July, 2014 from Jay Honda, Cleveland, OH.

A few facts:

413 fill-ups
2,554 gallons.
$2.54 avg cost per gallon.
AVG MPG 39.23.

SEE PREVIOUS POSTS IF INTERESTED.

Will attempt to upload pix of odometer using the avatar.

BTW:, I STILL HATE THE RADIO TOUCH CONTROLS !!!!!!!!

Thanks for posting HARRYHONDINI !!....I was waiting for one of your updates.
So do you still feel positive about the Fit? (except for the radio touch controls of course).
I wish you more safe driving, and look forward to a future update.

Wow, I doubt I will ever reach that mileage with my Fit. Do you have other statistics, such as number of oil changes, tires replaced, and other normal wear and tear items?

Hey HARRYHONDINI , which tire brand/make did you go with once the OEM tires wore out? I'm at 63,000 miles myself on the Firestones and am looking to change them out, thanks!

That's approaching 550 miles per day, 17,000 miles per month!

ah, good to see you are still truckin' with it.

you had posted accident photos, then were not back on the forum. we had debated whether the car got fixed or totaled.

i am sure it is more than 550 day. the car had some body damage, and probably was out a week or two for that alone...

I am very positive about this FIT

T auto-transmission is the smoothest I've ever owned. About 50% of my deliveries are to customers in Pennsylvania. Mountains galore. And yet the tranny is so smooth. Not like the previous Fits I've owned.

Here are the oil change and mileage dates:

9-14-14 -- 10,455.
11-3-14 -- 21,613. (Original Bridgestone Tires Rotated)
1-7-15 -- 33,692
3-4-15 -- 44,931
4-9-15 -- 51,098 New Michelin Tires installed.
5-1-15 -- 56,541 (Tires Rotated)
7-6-15 -- 70,357 (Tires Rotated)
9-16-15 -- 83,380 Oil + Transmission Fluid Replaced
12-3-15 -- 95,396 (Tires Rotated)

BTW: I purchased 4 new Michelin premium tires for $598 installed, road hazard, etc., etc. Honda dealer's best price for new Bridgestones was $695.

I purchased Michelin tires.

Very pleased with them so far.

I would probably not go back to Bridgestones. I

95% of my driving is freeway, interstate, turnpikes. Very little stop n go city deliveries. Yet, the car always had a slight drift to the left after about 25k. Had a wheel alignment and about a month later noticed a large bubble on the sidewall of the driver front side tire.

That's when I decided to go with the Michelins.

Your work has us all very intrigued. Can you tell us a bit about it?

Bridgestone makes some great tires. Honda just goes with whatever they can get a nice deal on en masse that suits some basic needs.

I deliver very expensive high-tech motherboards, usually one at a time to very large corporations when their servers go down or are about to. We proudly offer 24/7, 365 days a year dependable, immediate service.

Usually the part, or sometimes two parts, are hardly ever larger than the size and weight of a medium-sized pizza.

Last summer (2014) we started to deliver Ericsson radio transmitters to field techs when one of the cell towers would start to act up, or sometimes die on the tower.

These weigh about 75 lbs each, and I can, and have, delivered 3 of these at one time to Michigan.

Needless to say, they took up almost the entire cargo area of the Fit. (I always keep the back seats folded down.)

I took a pix of that delivery, but cannot post it to a public forum. Sorry.

Wow! Hope you're collecting a nice fat per diem for all that mileage.

Does the weight of Ericsson radio transmitters when you have multiple parts to deliver and what we have found as the weakness of the cargo area compared to past Fits (the wheel covers and the bottom) ever pose a problem or is the continued use of heavy items in the weak cargo area causing any sagging in the cargo floor?

I haven't noticed any difference in either mpg or handling due to the extra weight.

3x75 = 225 lbs. Not much more difference than one passenger or two lightweight passengers.

Maybe over a prolonged period of time the back might sag some, but in most cases we are only carrying one transmitter at a time and I position it directly behind the front seats.

Are you hiring? ;-)

I can't think of any work that's more enjoyable! Only downside I could see is if you are the owner & have no employees, so unable to ever take a vacation... and if that's the case... hire me! :P

Thank you for all of your updates! (makes me glad I have the LX with volume knob)

Thanks for the updates; this is an incredible, real-life durability test.

My impression is that the Fit is mechanically sound. The powertrain will run for the long haul. I get the feeling that the rest of the car will apart around it first.

It's fantastic and reassuring to know that you've had no major issues at all! I'll keep watching your updates out of curiosity

Do you have a target age or mileage for switching to a different car? Have you been doing this job for a while? What cars did you have before the Fit?
