Winplus Sun Shade from Costco for my Fit
Hey FitFreaks.
I was at Costco a couple of weeks ago and saw this Sun Shade. It was really inexpensive so I thought I’d give it a try before spending $40+ on a better one. Its made by Winplus and cost less than $8. Its the JUMBO model. I’ve only used it a couple of times and it seems to work pretty well at keeping the sun out. Like all the other Fit shades its BIG. And handling it in the car is a bit awkward, especially if someone is in the passenger seat. I know I’ll never be able to fold it up as perfectly as it came, but it does get pretty small when stored under the back seat. It’s ugly. It doesn’t cover the whole dash and you kind of have wedge the ends around the sun shades to keep it in place. Who knows how long it will last. One month? One summer? One year?? Beats me, but I figured its worth a try. And my Fit needs a bath....
Pros:
Inexpensive!
Seems to keep out a good amount of sun
Folds up relatively small
Comes with two bonus side window shades (haven’t tried them yet).
Doesn’t smell bad
Cons:
Not good looking
Feels cheap
Doesn’t cover the dash all the way
A little unwieldily when putting it up and taking it down
No gap for the review mirror

That looks similar to but not identical to one I bought off Amazon. Same issues. Extra large but still barely fits vertically and it's tough to get the visors to hold up. Way too much on the sides, so it bends and doesn't cover the corners properly. No slit for the mirror.
Advantages are it is inexpensive, light and folds up small. It works for running into a store but if I were leaving the car out in the sun all day I would go with something better.
My wife was really pushing for that kind (so I bought one to try) and I like the concept (that kind works okay in our other car) but I recently purchased a roll of 40" Reflectix to make my own shade at about a quarter the cost of a commercial custom shade.
