Honda Finace

Being a teacher, I pay ahead each summer. Called Honda Finance a couple weeks ago, and was told I was 3 months ahead. Good. Called yesterday for something else, and was told, no, one month ahead. Asked how that could be, and they could not answer. They said I could not rely on Honda Finance for accurate accounting, and that we should keep our own records! Can you believe that!!??
So not only do the cars have deteriorating quality, their finance end can't keep records straight. Geez!!!

I hope that you don't teach spelling!

When dealing with any financial situation it is best to maintain parallel records to make sure that they are doing what they should be doing. Relying only on their records is dangerous.

Don't have vouchers. They send bills. I can deal with it, but as a former banker, Sr VP, their inability to keep proper records is about unheard of

True. And I most likely will, now that I know they don't keep proper books. By the way, according to my books, which Honda said are better than theirs....I made 12 payments last month. I want my credit!

Honda Finance has been good in my experience but it's good to keep an eye on the credits. We paid our mortgage extra and instead of assuming we wanted to reduce the principle on the loan (you know, the normal reason to pay more), they applied it to the next month's interest. What junk is that! They think I just like to pay ahead because I'm nice or something? A phone call straightened it out but basically you can't really even trust professional companies when it comes to your own money.

Aren't you supposed to write "for principal" on the check? That worked for my co-op mortgage.

In my experience.....former banker....on mortgages, if you don't specify, it always was applied to principal. Each company has its quirks, or in some cases, untrained people...or lazy ones, however.

ill warn u dat a lot of banks hire high school graduates for their basic clerical work. u have to be VERY specific and careful and check each time. it scares me to go to my bank sometimes thinking these kids are handling my account. unless absolutely necessary to talk to a human, i do all of my account transfers, etc online.

another reason just call the hotline to get the automated buyout price on a car.
