Transmission fluid change.

Transmission fluid change.
I have a 15 fit that i took into the dealership to get the oil changed (only because they gave me 5 free ones) and the guy told me i would be needing to change my fluid changed. They tried selling me Honda fluid saying that that is the only fluid i can use blah blah. Just seeing if anyone has herd this or if this is a scam from the Honda place.

Hondas HCF-2 fluid is the ONLY fluid that can go in the CVT trans.
Anything else can void your warranty.
For the manual trans, we only use Hondas manual trans fluid.
We still recommend every 30,000 miles for trans fluid service at my local dealership.
Your maintenance minder system may let you go longer than that.

Yeah it's right by that yellow label. I highly recommend those that change it themselves stick with the Honda recommended fluid. Sometimes a transmission is engineered around a fluid design; I suspect this is the case.
I used a really long and narrow filtered funnel with a long tube to fit into the side overflow port.
Also, take the overflow plug loose first, but not out. The drain port is a 3/8" ratchet drive. By removing the drain plug first, then the fill/overflow plug, you can semi-regulate flow speed. Remove it completely and it's super high psi spraying it all the way to the front wheel.
If you've done a manual, this is easy.

Yes, after I drained out as much as I could get I slowly filled it through that side overflow port until it flowed out. A little over 3.5 came out and that's what went back in before it started spilling over.
Go slow though.

thanks. I did pick up a case of Honda cvt fluid from majestic. even with shipping it was cheaper than a local dealer, plus I got wiper blades, oil filters, and ex lower front grills for fogs which the ebay ones don't fit. I have an lx.

Or maybe it did, and that's why the shop said you need it.

sorry I don't own a manual fit, I was referring to my 911 and e36 which are manuals. I assume its similar to the cvt though, there should be a fill hole about half way up the transmission case. the only thing is the manual trans oil may be a lot more viscous so you can't use a funnel and have to pump it in with one of those quart pumps.

Our shop still suggests every 30k for all transmission services too.
It's ultimately up to you... They can't do the work without your consent.
The Hondas I take care of for my family get trans services with every other oil change.

I've run nothing but manual transmission cars since '79. I can't remember any of them recommending fluid changes under "normal" driving conditions. I don't think I've ever changed transmission oil in any of them or even had a transmission issue in any of them.
Is there even a drain plug on the '15 Fit manual transmission? Or a fill plug for that matter? Where? How much oil does it take? The owner's manual doesn't say and Honda won't publish a service manual.
Then again, I change the transmission oil in the Harley every 5,000 miles. No doubt, overkill, but I have 200,000 miles on that transmission, and I need it to last. Then too, Harley-Davidson still publishes service manuals, so I can do the work myself.

Have never serviced the Auto Trans fluid, shop said I'm due looks dirty. Question is do I drain n fill or actually replace the Trans Filter n buy gasket n seal it back up and pour new Honda Auto Trans fluid?
