not so smooth ride...

I have a 4x4 truck, it's heavy, stiff, and rides like a truck. Cause it's a truck!

The Fit, with it's skinny profile (wheel base) has a similar ride as my truck. Only, it's easier on the arms and shoulder with the light steering.

I love my FEx (fit ex), but I stopped kart racing back in 96' cause I hurt my back. My last "project car" was back in 98' (96' integra), and I have no clue which damper, tires, CO, strut, the whole suspension system are out there that I could try to smooth out my ride.

Right now, I just lowered the PSI on my stiff and rather heavy looking tires/rims. I just want a little smooth ride.

Help an old school brother out!! lol

I have a Fit and it rides rough too. Even after I replaced the stock tires. But on the other hand, it is kind of like a small truck in that it can haul a lot of awkwardly-shaped things.

I feel you, olde skewl brutha man!

I've got a 20 year old Tacoma I bought brand new in '96. It rattled my teeth and tossed me around the cabin on bumpy roads. I thought that in a few years of driving it would smooth out a bit. 20 years and 422,000 miles later, it's still the same stiff ride. My Fit has a much smoother ride than my truck so for me, it's a comfort upgrade.

My RAM 2500 4x4 rides like an ox-cart, so my Fit is luxurious in comparison, even after changing my springs for RS-R Downs. It's just "go-kart-ish" enough for my tastes now. To my knowledge, your only choice to *softening* up the suspension would be to go -1 or -2 on your wheels so you have more sidewall in your tires. Running lower pressures can increase tire temps, which can lead to premature tire failure…

My other ride is a 22 year old Harley-Davidson. Talk about a rough ride. The Fit is like a little limosine in comparison.

Your truck is harsh. The Fit is 'jaunty'.

Short wheel base (98 in) and short of ruining the handling, there is noting that's going to make it ride like a Lincoln. Taller tires MIGHT help, but like I said, that will mess with the handling..

Coming from a GD3 Sport to a GK5 LX, I'd say the ride quality is much better in the GK5. I test drove a bunch of GE8s as well. I wouldn't exactly call the GK5 floaty, but I certainly don't mind it as much as the GD3, especially on long trips, where the GD3 was downright punishing.

My '15 rides better than my wife's Kia Forte SX.....apparently the south Koreans' idea of a "sport suspension" is "make it stiff!!!!" The Forte is fine on our pretty decent east TN roads (and fun to drive), but....beats the hell out of ya when in the Detroit MI area, with the roads as they are. Our '15 Fit rides fine, handles fine, is quick enough to get in trouble with "the man," gets great mpg, quiet enough, and is just flat out fun to drive.....not to mention the utility of the interior design....ride quality of the new gen is just fine....this coming from someone who has never owned a premium larger vehicle...it's an entry level car and punches above it's class

its the price u pay for a nimble riding car.. but then again, didnt u guys test drive the car?

and finally, the GK's suspension isnt that stiff to me and im not at young either. the smaller diameter of the tire adds to the bumpiness. might even suggest going up a profile on the tires next time, and get some continental tires. those ride soft.

Great replies! LOL I guess I'm asking too much, or trying to find excuses to "project" this hatchback (#3) like I was 20 again. (psi -2 btw)

I test drove the Fit and I liked it right away. It is a Limo ride compared to the Truck, but not close to the wife's 16' CR-V or 11' BMW's handling and smoothness. Also, I still have to get used to the 1.5 this FEx has, and when cars pass me on the streets and highways, I start brain storming....

For now, after a month and 4 days, I've only changed out the interior bulbs and lic. plates bulbs with 194's Led. Map/cargo light is "ice white" and the Dome is "blue". Also I added footwell lights front and rear.. my daughter thinks "Dory" is near, from the movie lol. Not sure if and when I'll get the HID's upfront yet....the stock heads/fogs are good already, and changing to HID's is more cosmetic if I did change them out.

My other ride is a 1981 Toyota Corolla station wagon. The Fit is overall quieter but I can hear every bump in the road from the front end.
