Hard suspension

Can anything be done to soften the suspension on the Fit?

first thing to do is to play around with your tire pressures. higher pressure = harder ride. lower is softer.

I notice a big difference in ride from 33psi vs 38 psi.

the fit sport rides rough on shitty roads, you basically feel every bump just like a sports car, but on a smooth road, the ride is perfect.
i would imagine its the spring/strut combo on the sport vs the base, also the low profile tires may contribute.
I don't mind the ride, i like the handling and tight feel around corners more on the fit sport

A thick sheepskin seat cover will cushion your butt and make the bumps less annoying.... It took awhile for me to adjust to the ride and even with stiffer springs it is feeling pretty good to me now.

You could search the internet for a Temperfoam seat cushion.

They're made for private aircraft and usually come in three firmnesses.

I've found that a cushion made with all three types is the most comfortable, you can drive all day without it being a PITA.

It is the shocks, the Fit shocks are pretty cheap units which are valved right at the stock spring rates, so they are a little rough when they encounter uneven terrain. You could get a really fancy set of shocks from AMR Engineering. I put a set on my autocross Civic and they are magic, I also have a set for my s2000 CR that I am getting built right now. Other than changing parts on the car, try getting some less sport oriented tires, sportier tires tend to ride rougher and put off more noise, but some of the less sporty offerings can sometimes soften up the ride.

Damn I want to make mine much MORE stiff, I feel as though it is TOO soft and I'm running with the Honda Access sussy which is a bit stiffer than the stock setup.

Not knocking on you, just cool to see that there are differences people want on practically the same vehicle.

It is a small car therefore the ride is shitty. Being the driver is not bad as you got the wheel to hang onto. I will never admit to my wife who hates the ride that I find it rough on certain roads.

Now I did find an improvement when I put my winter tires on. They are 15" vs my Sport 16s so a bit more sidewall to cushion the ride.

Hey Wily hard on the hemorrhoids ain't it - lol

Damned if you aren't a clever fellow.... I like that...... Can I come up there and stay at your place until the heat wave passes.... They are talking about a temperature heat index of 108F for the next few days.... It was 105 Monday but the humidity was fairly low and it felt good.

We had a couple days last week that were like that here. It was about 95 with about 60% humidity, I think that is around 116 or so on the HI scale. It doesn't feel so bad to me, always lived in humid climates, but the base obviously had the black flag all around, so the soldiers know they can't do any activities outside. That still gets me, I remember when I was in the military stationed with the Marines (ex Navy Corpsman) they would have the black flags most of the summer in Okinawa, my point is, if one is too dumb to know that it is that hot and a flag is needed to tell you, maybe you should be outside running around.

Sure come on up. Only 88 here today and humid as hell. I am sitting here dripping/cooling off after my 2 mile walk and some yardwork.

Bluesfest this weekend as well. Stepson who play lead guitar on Mel Brown's old Gibson will be playing. He will backup Mel's widow Miss Angel on the Main Stage on Sat and Charity Brown on Sunday. Also with Doug Watson at the awards tomorrow night. Kitchener Blues Festival - 2010
