The fits ride low to the ground. Low profile = bumpier ride. You'll have to either deal with it or maybe look into a heavier tire. It'll soften it a little, but either way you're not going to get a super smooth ride in a Fit!

When is it suggested to replace the struts?

There is no suggested interval for strut and shock replacement unless you're listening to an ad from a company that makes shocks. Usually they're good until the oil starts leaking out of them. I've got 100K on mine and they're fine. As far as using a heavier tire goes, I'll respectfully disagree with that one. Generally speaking, lightening your tires and or wheels will improve ride quality but the biggest improvement with a fit would probably be choosing a touring tire with a softer sidewall.

More than likely you probably have belt separation on one of the tires because I had the same thing. It's hard to see, but raise your car and roll each tire to look for a flat spot or bubble. Then buy some descent tires I like Falken 912's because it's a good all weather tire with great grip in the rain. It can also be the balance of a wheel is off. run about 36-38 PSI what ever feels better for you.
