Mouse!

I saw a mouse dropping in the cargo area of my Fit, so I put some peanut butter in a trap and let it sit. Two days later - with lots of driving - I got one. One there's one, there's another, so I'll put another trap in there.

Nothing keeps them away, by the way. You can use moth balls, dryer sheets, or anything else, but they will not keep mice out of anything. A

ll they do is make your car stink and possibly make you sick.

You're cruel, inhumane, and absolutely right. The only alternative is a good mouser, but they tend to play with their food and/or present you with a gruesome present.

That's a good catch. Did you actually drive around with the spring trap set and it didn't go off accidentally? That's extra nice.

I'm battling rats in my garage right now, and I do have two cars with some rodent damage to wiring and insulation. You're wise nipping this in the bud.

Yes, I did drive with the trap set. I should let Honda know. Maybe they could make a commercial showing how smoothly it rides.

I have a dachshund that's a great mouser, but I wouldn't want to leave him in the car overnight.

No catch and release, huh? A few years ago one of our cars developed an awful smell, I lost the stinky air conditioner bet and eventually found a dead vole lying in blissful repose atop the cabin filter behind the glove box ... ick.

Try ground black pepper . Give the whole area you park the car a dusting ( especially under the engine bay ) and then place the car over it . Then shake it onto the ground around the car . It's a cheap alternative . Good Luck .

I hate mice. They manage to find their way inside the walls of the old house I live in and keep me awake at night.

With all the near-feral cats that roam the neighborhood, how we could have any mice at all is beyond me.

Dachshunds are great hunters and brave to the point of stupidity. They were bred to go after badgers in the badgers home! That's the reason for the long shout and the powerful front legs. Brave? Yep, I heard of one who treed a cougar (feline, not older woman). Dog was baying like all other hounds, the big cat didn't know that there wasn't a pack behind him. "Here, kitty kitty" mit German accent.

A rat terrier is very aggressive. Had one as a kid. Many trophies when he managed to sneak out.

I put scented strips in the pleats of the cabin air filter as a deterent , plus it smells good . So far , so good . Have used this method over the past 2 and 1/2 years after a mouse chewed through the foam on the air direction door ( fresh / recirculate ) to get into cabin . It reached all the way to the the spare tire . Used the ground pepper on the surface of the paved driveway for a few weeks after its break in . Replace the strips every 3 or 4 months . Clean out cabin air filter every few weeks . Amazing how much stuff gets into it . Replace the cabin filter every year . Also leave some of the old strips in the glove .
