Revs and consumption
Revs and consumption
I drive the car very smooth and usually keep the revs at max 3K, 3.2K and shift.
This week I shifted at higher rev for a funnier drive. I did not notice an increase in fuel consumption.
I understand all the variables involved in fuel consumption, but anyone ever bothered to find optimum revs?

In theory, an un-throttled engine is most efficient.
So, full throttle acceleration followed by engine-off coasting would yield the best MPG. (This is how NASCAR racers and drivers in the 1936 - 1968 Mobil Economy Run operated their cars when trying to achieve top MPG.)
I just hope that you are not in front of me on my normal weekday commute! LOL.
