Boiling sound
Boiling sound
I have a 2016 fit ex.
After driving to work this morning after i shut off the engine. I heard a boiling sound (sound of liquid boiling) my guess the coolant.
I looked under the hood and everything looked ok. Any idea why it would do that or is it normal.
It is around 21°F outside

Is that what that is? I've heard it after shutting off the car and wondered what it was too. Is the fuel coming back from the rail to the tank?
I was stoped about couple min before i shut it off. It sounded like it was from under the hood
IF you had the defroster on, the AC compressor probably was running (after the engine compartment got warm enough to let the system turn on).
The AC system can make hiss and gurgle noises for quite a while after it has stopped running as pressures slowly equalize inside the system, and you'd mostly hear it from the area of the compressor. This is normal.
If it had percolated the antifreeze, you surely would have noticed a puddle and/or disgustingly sweet odors?
Did you open the hood to check anything? Is the reservoir empty/low/full/overflowed?
Next time it happens, open the hood and listen for the source of the noise. I bet it will be the AC compressor.

Thanks for explaining the swishing sound after the car is shut off. At first, I thought it was something moving in my gym bag in the hatch area. Come to think about it, Yup... it is the gas moving in the tank. thanks
