Replacing shift knob on a GK? Help?

Hello, i was going to create a replacement shift knob with a drill and tap kit just for fun, and was wondering if anyone had done something similar? It doesnt look like you can just unscrew the shift knob, or remove "set screws" on the side. How do you remove the shift knob?

I hope i dont have to take the whole dash apart. Thanks in advance for the help.

pull down hard on the silver ring that connects the boot to the knob. it has plastic clips that just hold it in by force. then you can unscrew the knob.

Thanks! Is there a danger of it or the clips breaking? And do you know the thread size?

Gonna have a half-length Corona light draft beer pull handle, becuase my GK is yellow and "Hecho en mexico"

The clips are thick, so long as you pull straight down and dont twist at all, it would be almost impossible to break. thread size is standard honda size, all honda knobs should fit.
