Are you asking primarily about trim levels or Generational differences?

I have owned a 2010 Honda Fit Sport (Gen 2) and a now a 2016 Honda Fit EX (Gen 3).

And I really liked the 2010, and I really like the 2016.
It doesn't make your decision easier, but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend either to anyone.

I like the sunroof on the EX. I like the push button start, keyless entry. I like the slightly more refined driving feel, for longer drives.
The interior is really nice for a subcompact hatch, The Dash is beautiful IMO.

I liked the 2010. Sometimes for opposite reasons. I liked the slightly more Go-Kart feel, while less comfortable on long drives, slightly more fun in curves.
I liked the interior, which had a dual glove box, and IMO really convenient seemingly endless cup holders and spaces to hold stuff.
The interior dash was IMO also good looking and in some ways more unique and "fun". The new Honda Fit, looks more homogenized.

So anyway, I found them to both be "slightly" different ownership experiences. But I think both have their pluses and minuses.

I would ask, How long do you project keeping the vehicle?
If it is for a long time? Then perhaps buying a new one is a good idea. If you project only owning it for a short time?
Then maybe not losing a lot of money in depreciation is a good idea and looking at a used Honda Fit would be better.

But my bottom line is...either is a pretty good choice. There are differences between the Generations but I wouldn't say one is really better than the other, just some differences between the two.

Speaking of Golfs, I just found out today my brother traded in his Nissan Z on a Golf R .....holy moly, didn't realize the Golf Rs are THAT hot!!!! Smokin' compact hatch....unfortunately he lives a few states north of me, so It'll be some time before I can test drive it....but it sure sounds like a riot, and looks relatively unassuming at the same time

...two things. You do realize that the sunroof comes with a panel inside the vehicle that blocks the sun? So the "sun" is not blaring down on you...unless you want it?

Also I've owned two vehicles with sunroofs, and neither ever had a problem. I think modern design has made them much, much better and more durable than past incarnations.

And finally, I know a lot of people have complained about the touch screen volume control. But? Since the EX also comes with steering wheel volume control? I don't find it to be much of an issue.
And surprisingly, I really don't mind the touch screen volume control at all. Those few times I find myself using it...I think it's fine. And I kind of like NOT having knobs. It's a cleaner look.

If you want a CVT (automatic) you should find a made in Japan one. The VIN starts with "J" obviously for Japan. VIN's that start with "3" are made in Mexico, avoid these. If you like the LX trim level that's cool but the EX does offer some real benefit if you can swing the extra $2k. The EX has 16 inch rims which take one size bigger and wider tires, more skin on the road. The EX has a 7 inch display which is better if you use nav. The EX has fog lights which I find useful. I enjoy my sunroof although I admit it isn't really important. The EX comes with upgraded seat fabric over the LX. (EX-L with leather is different from EX). Whichever you choose, be sure to look over the cars on the dealer lot with a microscope. Many quality control issues have been reported. Check throughout these forums for info on that. Good hunting.

I repeat... look these cars over good, real good. When you think you have found the one you will buy, STOP right there. Go back over it with a fine tooth comb, every square inch inside and out. Spend an hour checking everything. Use your hand to check for moisture in the floor board carpeting. Check the spare tire well for water, or signs of water. Look at ever exterior body panel to see how they line up. I understand not everybody is a mechanic. You might not find an engine issue but your test drive should tell you a lot. Build quality has been a problem. Take your time and spot the problems before you buy.

yah, definitely test drive the exact car you plan to purchase. i do this all the time and i usually dont order my cars. i find a dealer dat has the car i want, even if it means driving further to get there vs my usual dealers.

ask the sales person to take you to the car you plan to buy. note the vin number (last few digits is good) and check over everything. u wont be sorry. actually u will be sorry if u DONT look over the car before purchase.

Yes, if you have identified a vehicle on the dealer's website then ask first thing to see that specific vehicle. Usually the VIN is on the website, double check that at the dealership. Better yet have that web page pulled up on your phone. Many dealers will try the old swicth-a-roo and get you to look at something else. Don't do it. When you have test driven and thoroughly inspected take a picture of the VIN on your phone or write it down. That way you know you're getting the same car delivered to you after final dealer prep. You cannot be too careful. The salesman will do his best to gain your trust and friendship. But you aren't going there to make friends. Trust nobody but yourself.

I am 75 and never had a sunroof before but I have one in my 2020 Fit and I love it. I slept in the Fit while camping and it was great to have it open to let out the heat. No bugs where I was in Pueblo State Park, Co. - too dry but nice and breezy. With the windows and sunroof open me and my two dogs were very comfortable - beats setting up my tent. Going to camp by buggy river and need screens. Not sure if sunroof screens on Amazon will work because I don't know if magnets will stick to the roof.

i went cheap with a '19 LX 6 speed . the extra electronics on the EX wasn't worth it for me at all . i did some upgrades on my car , wider rims and tires , for one . would
have done the same mods with an EX anyway . i do miss having a sunroof though , had one on my '02 SI , was great . the car had way more power , but comparing it to
the fit , it's the sunroof i miss the most
