I've had my Fit for 2 years now, and I've only now taken a look around the driver's side pedal area (I have no idea what that area is called) while cleaning the floors.. and I noticed it looks a little exposed. Is it supposed to look like this?
For comparison, here's what it looks like on the passenger's side feet area:
For all 2015 Fit owners, is that what it looks like in your car too?

That would be the same Bentley level of detail mine has, too.
Looks just like mine, except I have one more pedal.
Same here .... love having that 3rd pedal, I am NOT a fan of CVTs, don't care if they eek out a bit more mpg......but, yeah, the chintzy-arsed "carpeting" stops as in the pics
I'll admit to being disappointed with the chintzy material Honda calls "carpeting". Even my Plymouth Neon came with nice, high quality cut pile carpeting, color matched to the interior.

I know the sub-compact Fit is a Honda Entry level product.
I know the idea is to create value.
So decisions are made as to what to invest into, and what NOT to invest into. BUT...
I'm surprised that Honda doesn't upgrade the carpet.
I can't believe with the mass buying power of Honda, for a huge line of vehicles, that better carpet couldn't be obtained and used at a minimal difference in cost.
You would think not only would the carpet just BE better, but it would also add to the sound deadening properties of the vehicle.
Would I pay 100, 200, 300 dollars more for REAL carpet? Easily.
The fuzz that Honda passes off as carpeting in The Fit is nearly embarrassing.

I think the term "mouse fuzz", used on this forum, is apt to describing what you call carpeting.
I have Husky mats front and rear, so don't really see my carpeting much. I'd rather have something more durable, like more rubber covering.
I wonder how hard it would be to replace the carpeting with your own? If you like carpeting? Go to a carpet remnants shop, purchase 20sq ft, redo the front and passenger floors. The hatch might be too much work.

The first layer is sound proofing, and the second layer is, admittedly, not the best quality of sculptured elegance, but honda Japan does offer three different dealer options to cover the standard carpeting. There are rubber floor mats for 7560 yen for the front and 7560 for the rear. Then they have standard front and rear floor carpets for 17,280 yen that come in either black or light grey. Then the best is the premium floor carpets for 22,680 yen.
If your honda dealership doesn't offer these accessories, then you have a legitimate beef because the base carpet was not designed to be anything more than something to cover the soundproofing.
