Bluetooth/USB Charger Conflict?

Bluetooth/USB Charger Conflict?
I have a 2015 EX, and for a long time my iPhone worked just fine when connected via Bluetooth and charging via USB. Whether or not the radio was on, or my iPod was playing (connected separately via USB), an incoming call would mute the music and come through.
About 6 months ago - it might have something to do with an iOS update - everything went sideways. Now, when a call comes through, the music mutes and I hear my phone ring, but when I click to receive the music comes blaring through. First thing I tried was selecting the audio input on the phone, but that didn't work. I eventually discovered that if I turn off the radio/audio and unplug the phone from the USB charger it functions like it used to - hands-free phone use.
Anyone else have an experience like this, or have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!

Get a 12v USB charger. With the Fit your USB plug is also being used as an input device, thus confusing the Fit with two inputs. With the 12v USB charger this only provides power and cannot be used as an input device, thus solving the confusion. You'll also get a better, more powerful charge than the standard USB socket.

Sorry, I forgot to include this - I had the same thought, and bought a 12v USB charger. No change in the phone's behavior. What I haven't tried yet, though, is a hard-wired 12v charger, something that goes straight from plug to lightning connector. That might be a good next step.
Thanks for your suggestion!

The 12v usb charger goes into the 12v outlet. There would be no difference between using the 12v charger and hard wired 12v charger. If the 12v usb charger does not work then there's no reason to try to hard wire one. You can get a 12v usb charger, then a usb to lightning cable for your Apple gear.

Understood - that's what I've got now, a 12v charger with a USB cord running from it to my phone. Thanks for the heads-up about no difference between the outlet/hard-wired versions, though it looks like that rules out the charger as the issue...
