Fuel smell?

2017 with less than 2k miles. I noticed a faint fuel smell coming from the front of the car after driving it. Popped the hood and it's coming from the front of the engine. Maybe from the PCV hose. At least that's what I'm assuming it is, the hose in the middle of the intake manifold.

I'm planning on calling the dealer in the morning as in my opinion, you should never smell gas emanating from what should be a sealed system. Just wondering if anybody else has noticed such a fuel smell.

Nobody? Well, I dropped it off at the dealer this morning for them to check it out. I'll update this thread when I know more.

For a loaner, they gave me a very nice top of the line Accord v6 with less than 100 miles on it. I don't think I'll want to give it back.

Sorry no fuel smell from the front.

They gave me a CRV last time I had to leave my Fit. They try to do that to get you to upgrade. Didn't work. The rear visibility on the CRV was awful compared to the Fit.

Have you sat in the Toyota CH-R? My DC Integra was about the same, and my Saturn Astra was worse. The Saturn was the worst car for outwards visibility that I've ever driven.

Haven't been in a CH-R, probably never will as I just don't like the looks.

I think the worst Toyota I've been in was an FJ Cruiser. Those D pillars were just awful.

Fuel smell on startup could be a loose spark plug. Wouldn't expect that with 2K miles, but you never know. Let us know what the dealer says.

The fuel odor isn't coming from the plugs area. I smell it when my nose is right on the PCV hose. Mostly after driving, but still the morning after when the engine is cold. I swear the hose is porous and faintly seeping fuel vapor. That's what it smells like to me.

The dealer called me back and said they couldn't find an issue. They tested the high pressure fuel pump, checked for leaks on the lines, etc. I asked the service guy to please replace the PCV hose anyway since he smelled it too when I dropped it off. It's faint, but there, and should be cheap both in parts and time. He said he'd check on that.

Got another call and now playing phone tag. I should be able to talk to him again tomorrow. I'll update when I know more. In the meantime, I'm enjoying the power of the loaner Accord's 278hp V6.

*Edit* They are replacing the PCV hose at my request. At least they agreed to throw one part at the issue. It is supposed to be ready tomorrow. (Had to order the part). I'll report back if it fixes the issue.

Well, picked it up last evening. New PCV hose as a sort of 'goodwill' replacement at my request. No smell of fuel when I got home. Hopefully it will stay that way. I'll continue to monitor.

Dealership was great to work with. Courteous, accommodating, and no cost to me.
