2015 Fit EX - Uneven Rear Tire Wear?

Hey everyone.

Bought my 2015 EX new in January of 2016. At 10k miles, tires looked pretty uniform all around for the most part so did not perform a rotation. Just hit 20k miles and checked again. The front are now worn enough to justify moving them back, but I just noticed the rear passenger side tire is worn noticeably more than the rear driver side. Haven't specifically measured but it appears its worn as much as the front and possibly MORE worn than the front. And it's evenly worn too, so no indication of under or over inflation as far as I can tell. Any idea what would cause this bizarre wear pattern?

As a note, all tires still have plenty of life in them, none appear to be worn to the wear indicators.

I think if I had a concern in this area, the best thing to do would have an alignment done.
You could point out the unusual wear pattern and lobby to have it done as a warranty issue.
You might lose that argument but I'd politely try.

An alignment check would show if the rear is out of spec, it's not really alignable easily but 3rd party parts can do it.

I recall at least one member has their rear ended replaced under warranty.

I personally rotate tires every 5k miles and was able to get about 40k out of the Firestone tires to 3/32

I have the same issue with the rear wearing out faster than expected. Weirdly, I did not have this issue once I switched to new tires, but the passenger side rear does seem to wear out more than the opposite side. I just learned to live with it. It's not that bad after all.
I remember when the civic had a design problem on the rear where the tires were wearing out unevenly so severely and so quickly that Honda redesigned the rear end and issued new parts as part of a recall. I think it was 2010 model year if my memory serves me well.

Just had this problem last week. Dealer says rear axle is 3 degrees out and theres no adjustment. I’m in warranty so I’m calling Honda.

That was me. I noticed abnormal wear on the rear passenger side tire at 8,000 miles. The dealer said the rear end was out of alignment and couldn’t be fixed, so they replaced the axle under warranty. I’ve had no issues with uneven wear since.

If out of alignment and not under warranty, there are shims that can be used as an aftermarket solution.

If in warranty, best to have them replace the rear beam. I'm not sure any are truly within spec though. Ours has chewed rear tires since day one.
