Thumbs down Scratched up my new car

No idea how it happened, just randomly noticed it. I've been so careful. Somehow my car got scratched up bad. I can't even begin to think of what did it, I never park close to anything. No idea what to do about it, just bummed.

Wow, bummer. I don't think it was you.

The two parallel scratches in the second pic make me think something was being carried near your car, or maybe a metal part of clothing (like a rivet or belt buckle) by someone working on your car. Any outside work done recently?

No idea, it would all just be guesses.

Anyone have any experience with Meguiars ScratchX 2.0? Think it might work or is it a big no no?

if your finger nail catches the scratch its too deep for polish like scratch-x. but scratch-x can make it look better.

did you go through those auto car washes with the brush? nothing 'soft cloth' about those thick bristles..

My nail does catch but I do think it's a clear coat scratch. I just want the scratches to not show up as silver/white, doesn't matter if they are still there, just want to see them less. And hell no I'd never go through an autowash.

yah, in that case scratch-x will make it look less obvious. use a foam pad for it, not terry towel as it will heat up too much. MF towel can work but best you use a foam pad to keep the product at the top of the surface. i would do no more than 4-5 applications max as the clear is thin.

hahaha! yah, moderate pressure and make sure you work it in real good until near dry so the abrasives diminish completely.

btw, if you didnt know make sure you wax the area afterwards as the polish removes wax/polymer.

Ken is right, start with a less aggressive technique. You only have so much clear coat on your car. Starting with scratch-x would be a good place to start. It may take some of that out, but not all. Terry cloth will leave its own marks, microfiber or a foam pad. Try a spot that is not conspicuous first to hone your skills.

If it doesn't end up looking as good as you want consulting your local car detailer may be worth your while. Those guys can do wonders.

Good luck I'm sorry this happened to your Fit.

If the scratches were horizontal I might have thought that someone tried to squeeze past you with a shopping cart, but they're in all directions which doesn't make sense.

I know, thats what I'm most confused about. My SO said me or him must have parked close to a bush and opened the door on it. Not sure.

I also recommend ScratchX. I keep it in the car.

I have used Mr Clean Magic Eraser very successfully for small scratches. It is inexpensive. Just dampen and try to wipe away the scratch.

It does look like someone scratched your car.

That's because after the dent or scratch I can treat my vehicle like the tool it is rather than the piece of jewelry I think it is.

True but I've only had it a month lol if it's like this after only a month I'm scared to see what will happen in a year.
