Scratched up my new car
#21
my current $35k GTI autobahn got dinged 2 wks after taking ownership in an area PDR cannot fix, hit flock of birds on expressway scuffed fender, glass cracked, bent wheel, got rear bumper scuffed by someone, water stains due to parking lot drainage, side skit damaged and replaced, and something else within 6-7 months of ownership. shit happens and will continue.
i fixed everything so it looks as good as new.

Yeah, the first ding/scratch is always the worst. At my advancing age, I don't fret unless bare metal is exposed. Someone put a nice gouge in my front bumper, but...it ain't gonna rust, not a big deal

yah, daily driving rash is unavoidable. its too bad some cars have worse luck than others. ive personally experienced this too. my current GTI has one of the worst luck, but the car itself is super for a fwd rocket.

yah, since your nail was catching it, that's probably the best it will ever be with polish. it's just too deep.
another product to try is glaze. it will fill very light haze and you just wax over it to get a stronger pop in shine. it's not a permanent fix but it's one of the steps detailers use to hide minor imperfections in the paint when polish is not the answer.
i use a product called Prima Amigo, but as long as it's a glaze i think they are pretty much very similar. it wont make the scratch disappear, but it will make surface more glossy enhancing the overall look.
