Salt on footwell carpet

Any tips or tricks for removing salt on carpets?

Rent a steam cleaner/vacuum thing from your home store. Make sure it has the necessary handheld part.

Or take it to a detailing shop and have them do it.

Very hot water. I pour it slowly to dissolve the salt while using a stiff carpet brush on it, then I use the shop vac on it.
