High Mileage - How High
#21
yah car value is so subjective it is hard to tell which is better.
sure from a money standpoint driving to the ground is great but i would not want the trouble associated with older cars and all the suffering. i always say watever makes sense to u is the best value. i might spend more but i get to enjoy new tech and other greatness associated with better cars. that has more value to me than saving nickels and dimes driving a piece of junk every day.
more like do u have a choice or not is the question.

When I was a kid, a local man got a new Cadillac every year. I always looked forward to seeing his new car.

I might be the leader in the clubhouse for 2015+. I bought my 2015 ex 6spd in July of 2015 with 80 miles on it. I crossed over 389k today. I drive a lot for work.
Repairs: at 300k my radiator smoked and leaked out the coolant. I hit a kamikaze raccoon or armidllo and bent one of the supports underneath so it had a small crack in it. At that time I also had the starter button replaced along with battery, and valves adjusted and seal replaced.
Alternator replaced at 357k. $750 at dealership.
Clutch went out at 371k. $1150 at dealership. A little pricey for those but I was happy to get that mileage out of them.
I fully intend to get this MF’er across the 1million mile mark even if I have to push it while it’s on fire

Holy cow, that's a lot of miles! You need to make your own thread like this guy: 400k+ '09 Fit "build" thread

that is a 1 post count example, I can dig!
welcome canteenboy! mind sharing with us some pics of the car? it'd be interesting to see what shape its in, now that youre near 400k
also, other than the repairs mentioned, could you share with us, a history of your maint?

Sounds good. Keep us informed of its progress.

I'm driving less - traveling less, too. Comparing my MPG to that of friends who drive a Prius, I don't think I'd ever break even with the higher cost of the Prius. I've averaged over 43 MPG for 50k miles, and they get around 50 MPG.

Well, my daily commute to work was only five miles each way, but everything else around here is 40-100 miles away. That’s what I get for living in the middle of nowhere.

Bro i forsure thought I was the highest mileage fit
I have 205000 on mine.
stopped using it since july of last year cause my job gave me a van to use now.
I used my fit for work.
Bought it March of 2015 brand new
Im thinking of gutting it soon my sunroof leaked a couple months ago.. Fat puddles on floor... its all musty in there now. but as far as maintenance
Push button start doesn't really work anymore
By that I mean I have to push it a certain way to get it started its a mess..
Dealer said 500 dollars to fix the start button.
Sunroof won't open or close anymore just happened a month ago don't know why..
One day it just opened on me randomly while I was driving and then wouldn't close anymore.. Had to take it to the dealer to close it but they wanted to charge me 180 to tell me why it opened by itself.. Smh..
The button doesn't work, neither do the maplights so I'm thinking it's just that whole piece
Other than that tires and brakes
4 transmission fluid flushes (cvt still shifts brand new)
Oil changes at 5% oil life
I went off by what the computer told me on the dash
I would estimate my oil changes to be at every 6k mi sometimes a lil more
Car still runs and drives well it's great to know that someone else has double the amount I have
I also had my alternator replaced at 185k because of an accident involving road debris
I flushed the radiator fluid twice before I got a new one
I'm thinking of selling the car but at this point it's only worth like 4k

this was tonight. I did spark plugs and ignition coils recently at 400K (rockauto) and replaced the EGR valve and front brakes (hondapartsnow.com) both sites worked great.
For oil I did switch to 5-w20 after the 100k Mark always using Mobil 1 oil and filter. I change every 9-10k miles and always check it around 5-6k and usually have to add maybe a half quart or so.

400k is impressive , definitely . in 12 years i got 195k out of my '90 civic ( it since went on to reach at least 240 last i heard ) . in 16 years my '02 SI went 240k . both cars with original clutches . would probably still be driving the SI if it wasn't for the rotted out spare tire well and some other rust issues , it ran great , so yea , i
plan to run my '19 GK 6 speed into the ground . not sure how this one will last though . i have my doubts about the modern medal paint for one thing . the other is the clutch , maybe it'll last but
it's never felt like anything else i've ever driven , but still , it's a great driver and the mileage is up there , mid to upper 40s on the highway . and it carries a lot of stuff for such a small package , i like
the efficiency

Same here - last Honda was a CRV and I kept it 17 years and sub-300K. No issues other than normal maintenance and a few part failures to be expected with an older car. I did almost all of the work myself and it wasn't until the Environmental stuff started failing (live in a state with strict auto testing) that I decided the cost/benefit ratio wasn't wroth keeping her. Keeping the Fit for that long as well since the EV equation still isn't a benefit to cost and to the Environment when my $17K Fit gets 40 mpg.

Does your engine's VTC actuator rattle when cold?
