Of course it does. VTC actuator was replaced under warranty at 50,000km. Rattle noise was back at 80,000km.

 

Thanks for the reply, I replaced the upgraded VTC actuator under warranty and it rattled again and I'm worried if it will affect the timing chain or tensioner. I'm thinking is to raise the viscosity to 5W30, what oil does your engine use?

 

What is/was your oil change interval and weight used?

 

Oil change interval is between 8,000 and 10,000 km, and the oil used is 0W20 synthetic.

 

91k miles here. Not that high, especially compared to my Accord (234k miles). Then again here in the DC area, most other GK5s I see have under 40k.

the hard part about keeping a car out much past 250K is that it doesnt have much value, and takes next to nothing to "total" it

 

btw my 2013 Fit is pushing it at about 8K miles
I just picked it up after trading in my 2010 prius with 225,000 miles

purchased the 2010 prius in 2012 with 46K miles for $17K
no maintenance costs other than Oil changes every 10K miles, windshield wipers every year, and one set of tires @113K miles (dealser put miles on it at about 46K)

I was thinking about replacing the tires (with about 110K miles on them) when I hit a suicidal raccoon that broke my AC lines.
Insurance gave me $3600 I drove for another few thousand miles and traded it in for $4K with 225K miles on it .

I feel I got my equity out of it
