Replacing LX stock head unit with EX Help
Has anyone had any luck or experience replacing the LX head unit with a EX head unit either on their own or at a dealership?
With all honesty I would just like Android Auto and retain all the functions of a stock head unit like the rear view camera and it's various angles, as well as the steering wheel control. I also enjoy keeping things looking as stock as possible and having the physical volume knob. Nothing too fancy.
I have done some reading about the CANBUS matching the VIN of the car or something. So I somewhat understand the difficulty of making this a DIY if I was to happen to acquire a stock EX head unit. I am willing to pay more to get what I would like but if anyone has any other suggestions that would also be appreciated

oh wow! Didn't realize the head unit was that much. Should've gotten the Honda Sense added in for $1000 or gone with EX trim. Well that adds on to my buyers remorse.

I was under the impression the unit and trim were one piece. I could be wrong, my last car was a 98 Civic, things were so much easier then especially with the aftermarket support for the car.

Well I was always up to changing the head unit first in any of my cars, however, after learning that the LX didn't have AA, I opted for the Sport since i came with the upgraded head unit, etc. This will probably the first car I won't mess with the audio system for fear of losing some functionality with the cameras and other stuff from the HUD.

Here's An Idea;
How about trading in your LX for an EX?

I haven't had the car for a month. I would if I could. Maybe in the distant future when I am close to paying off the car I may get another new Fit. I imagine the resale value holding up pretty well.

Trading In.
I'm sure you can trade in your LX even if it's not paid off. I've seen car ads stating "Just take over the payments" to buy this car.

The head unit, and the surround trim are indeed, 2 seperate pieces. The Sport, and LX and EX appear to have the same PN
2018 - sport
Audio Trim Panel = 39170-T5R-A71

The 2018 Head Unit appears to be $4000+

Heres a $656.91 solution .... it does android auto/apply carplay, it comes with its own back up cam, and retains steering wheel controls, and it looks damn pretty:

(I'm sure its prob cheaper, elsewhere)

Looking around there seems to be harnesses and ways to retain the stock camera which I would prefer. I am hoping to find a harness or method to also retain the multiple views. Having that view that points downward is helpful, not tooich a fan of the fisheye view . I originally didn't think I would be using the back up camera too much but it seems that I am on some occasions. Will post more on this project when I get around to it.
