Cabin air filter

AC Delco CF3238 is listed at RockAuto . Price is $ 8.27 . May want to call GM dealer parts department for cost and # in stock . I would take car to GM dealer and bring filter and tray to parts department to see if it fits properly . Should be snug .

How do you clean that one? I've bought it and been using it for some time. I did not buy their cleaning kit though. I'm about ready to inspect that filter today.

I'm sure you could clean it with a mild solution of water and Dawn dish detergent, but I don't know what you would use after cleaning. The kit comes with a spray that is supposed to add back the electrostatic properties.
If I had that filter, I would either clean it with Dawn/water and then Febreze it or buy the K&N cleaning kit. Which I chose would depend on how long I wanted the filter to last.
I run K&N's in our cars for the engine filter, but buy cheap paper filters for the cabins and replace them often. I can't bring myself to care much about the cabin filter other than making sure it's clean.
Edit - forgot to mention that I use the actual K&N cleaning and re-oil kit for the engine filters. Bought one kit over 10 years ago and have done countless cleanings on numerous filters. One kit goes a long way and key is to use very little oil.

The cabin filter for the '15 -'18 FIT are quite snug for the '09 - '14 FIT . They're expensive ( $35 + ) and may last for a year with frequent cleaning . They start to deteriorate not long after install .

nnnnn... id much prefer to just replace the cabin filter with a new one each time. we're talking micron level right? using dish soap and washing it with calcium rich tap water sounds like its going to just plug up the pores.
