Wheel Locks!

Unbeknownst to me, the wheels I ordered from Discount Tire Direct have sixteen locking lug nuts. If I had noticed that, I never would have bought them. The holes on the wheels are too narrow for regular lug nuts, so I am stuck with these. Right now, I have no idea where that big, black, heavy, ugly key is, so I'm ordering two more. I'll keep one in the car and another in my toolbox. These wheels have eight holes so they can fit onto different cars. Not a great idea.

Check out spline drive lug nuts. They work well with aftermarket wheels with smaller openings, but aren't technically a lock. Anyone with a spline drive socket can take them off, but not every thief is going to be driving around with that socket.

If you want extra security, you can buy spline drive sets that also include a lock.

Edit...are you sure those are locks or are they spline drive lug nuts?

Thanks for the tip. I'll look for them. At least the socket will be easier to locate and buy. These are definite locks, with a Gorilla key and a number I need to order a replacement key. I can't order online, though. I have to mail the form to them or phone them.

EDIT: Amazon has these keys, with two-day delivery and a lower price!

Yes, they are splines, not locks. I ordered four from Amazon for $38. I would have paid $30 to get two from the company. However, they are described as "keys."
