I'm picking nits here but on the Fit it's a dead rear axle. Live axles transmit power whereas dead ones don't. In both cases though it's a beam axle, which means the two wheels are physically connected.
Sorry you're right, dead axle. That beam really makes the back end jittery. It's like driving a pickup with nothing in the bed around a bumpy track.
impressions on the spirited commute this morning .... it feels like the rears corner more flat. keep in mind, I dont have auto-x experience nor 30 yrs of knowledge under my belt, so take my word with a grain of salt. for the ease of install (30 mins with 4 beers in me), and relatively low price.... IMO, its worth a try.
I found and have purchased a rigid collar (Savanini) set for GK Fits on Aliexpress.com Waiting for them to arrive (from China). Price is $38.00 I think these are what Evilcharger is using. EvilCharger, did you reuse your subframe bolts when you installed these? I realize some manufacturers say they are for one time use only.
You've got me convinced. 3rd owner 39k 2015 ex that has been in a low speed collision (cosmetic), surely has drifted from it's proper factory placement done w precision jigs in place.
Still gonna need an RSB and eventually springs and struts.
Best bang for my buck was camber bolts and an alignment, was able to get -1.3° camber on the front, which transformed the car. Wish I'd done this three years ago. My teenage son likes the audiosystem in the Mazdaspeed, but prefers to Drive the Fit.
Regarding rear shocks, it's possible maybe to fine tune for a specific weight, if you can get some shocks with adjustable compression and rebound, but it all goes out the window if you change the weight on the rear suspension. The lighter the vehicle, the worse it gets, as the additional passengers or cargo are a much greater percent change compared to the starting weight.
