Big conspiracy theory...

It's aliens man, it's aliens!! I do think, however, that the TPMS lights may be programmed by the man to come on at certain intervals. Yesterday, I took a day trip to Alabama, and the light came on. Nothing looked out of place. Next stop I fueled up and checked air pressure, all were at 35 where I put them before. The first time I cleared the TPMS light, it came back. The second time, after checking air, it never did. That'll teach me to explore haunted places.

True, I'm ok with it. It does seem random, however.

I think it's based on time at speed.

Was it during higher speed driving after a sustained amount of time? That's when the one in our VW falses. Takes an hour or so of steady 70+ and then...false alert.

I took a couple hour road trip, then it was mostly backroads. I made a few stops...after one stop, it came on. I reset it, it came back on. Before hitting the highway again, I checked air pressure and reset the light again, never came back.

It's based on wheel speed. I'm now down to three sets of wheels and tires for my Fit. On paper the passive system seems like a good idea. It just doesn't work that great. Between rotations and changing wheel/tire setup my light goes off frequently. It take numerous resets to finally take. High speeds until the system learns the new set of tires seems to trigger it frequently. I've also been on really bumpy roads and have that trigger it. Wheel spin during autocross or a change in pressure from heating up one tire more than others because of course design has trigged mine. Something about your drive triggered the system.

Wasn't there a thread on this board about a guy who had some caked mud or something jammed up inside his wheel that was causing repeated alerts? I thought there was a TSB about this out there too but not for the Fit specifically. I used to get alerts every once in a while with the OEM tires but haven't seen an alert since calibrating with new Pirellis in June. And a few weeks ago I took a nice roadtrip with several stints of four hours or so at 70 mph-plus (big plus at some points). Of course, I also got the one the counted, the real thing, a year or so after purchase (didn't need a tire gauge to find the problem -- head of a big ol' railroad spike nestled comfortably at tread centerline). Because of that I always have to check.

After verifying the pressure in all 4 tires reset tpms, and drive for 30mins at speeds from 30-60mph. I can't help but feel like atmospheric pressure and temperature plays a role in this.

I never had the tire pressure light come on for me during 90+k miles of ownership. I do my own tire rotation and switch to winter tires during the cold months.

Not sure at what point they switched from TPMS monitors to indirect.

Still makes buying aftermarket rims really easy! Autocross tires/rims.. $600, no TPMS to worry about...

I guess you have better luck than me? At first I thought it was great to not have to buy sensors. Personally, I think the system sucks. I have to reset the TPMS numerous times when switching back and fourth from daily driver wheels to autocross wheels and the same when the winter tires go on. I use a $180 Longacre tire pressure gauge accurate to 1/4 of a pound to set the pressure. I also have a Joe's pressure gauge that reads the same as my Longacre. I assume correct pressure isn't the issue? All the tires were new. New 205/50/16 RE-71R, new 205/50/16 Firestone Firehawk Indy 500's and new 195/60/15 General Altimax. The snow tire wheels were the OEM steelies. The TR's for autocross are straight and have low street miles. Basically only driving is to and from autocross events. The Maxxim were basically new when I bought them and are straight/dent free. So again why do I have to reset the system numerous times when switching wheels before the system accepts the change and quits throwing the light on the dash? I even had to go to the dealer for a "hard reset" once because the light would continually keep coming back on after at minimum 50 resets.

Daily driver wheels

Bummer. My experience is allot different. It is rare for me to hit the reset button more than twice. Usually it's just once. I've actually swapped tires/rims and not had to hit the reset at all.

I interstate drive probably 80% of the time. Maybe that's why?

Thought I was the only one that autocrossed a Fit Like the rims!

Thanks. Your Southern Illinois brother.

Again, this is not the car to autocross. A major underdog in the class against the Fiesta ST, Fiat Abarth, and all the previous generation Civic Si. It's like bringing a knife to a gunfight.

Yeah. Pretty unfair. My nemesis is a Civic Si that's just a couple of seconds behind FTD... and I'm in a freaking Fit!! Not fair at all..

BING GO and has nothing to do with a dog! I've hand the alert go off with a sudden drastic drop in temperature.
