Rear parcel shelf delete
As far as what I could tell the Mexican built Honda Fitz did not include the rear parcel shelf which would go behind the headrest shoulder area of the rear seats to the rear window to enclose the rear cargo area but in fact they did include the left and right supports and mount for the hinged part of the rear parcel Shelf
the left and right support switcher one piece molded plastic do get in the way of loading things that are almost as wide as the rear hatch and serve no purpose other than the one on the right side houses the rear cargo light but that was an easy fix so I remove them with about 5 screws extremely easy and ads more practicality to a part that had no reason being there anymore. Here is some illustrations for you non-readers

If you look at the internal dimensions of the back of the car and look at the tailgate the tailgate is surprisingly small in comparison.
I use my fit for work and it gets loaded up all the way from the headliner to the floor almost every night so if I can get just a little bit more space in there it's more money for me.

What was throwing me off, was calling it "the rear parcel shelf".
Is the rear parcel shelf and a Cargo Cover the same thing?
Because I own a OEM Honda Cargo cover for my 2016, and while it works great as a cover, I wouldn't trust it as a shelf. I wouldn't put anything weighing more than ounces on top of it. I consider it more of a privacy cover than a utilizable shelf.

Might be the same thing the ones on the Chevy Spark were depressed in the middle so things could sit atop there such as Maybe two or three across shopping bags on the top and then the rest of your groceries below inside the cargo area behind the rear seats even though it's a fairly thin material it's probably capable of having some use besides just hiding the cargo area in the back
