rear center seatbelt removal

Has anybody ever replaced the rear center seatbelt? The previous owner couldn't figure out how to unbuckle it so he cut the belt. I'm trying to install a new one but I can't even get the cover (on the ceiling) off. Help?

humbug

I saw that online manual but it was wholly unhelpful. I couldn't even get past step one because the bolt it was referring to was underneath the cover. I just took the car into a local mechanic and he installed the seatbelt for $111.

When i first got my Fit in 2009, I took my back seats out and also the rear belts and brackets. I can't remember specifics, but I know it was a lot more involved than I had hoped (removing inner panels to get the headliner to drop down to get to the middle belt attached to the roof). Anyway, I think you got a heck of a deal from the local mechanic. Good job.

...and the headliner needs to be removed and that's like a day-long job just to remove because it requires dismantling essentially the whole interior from the bottom of the windows upward. All this because some engineer decided that the best way was for the cover to be screwed in from the back of the headliner with 4 screws. Instead, imma get out my prybar, rip that thing off, and maybe hotglue it back when i replace it. Might also have to cut the headliner a bit, so more hot glue. It's 13 yo and no one expects perfection from a barely teenager.
