Oil life declining quickly???
Oil life declining quickly???
Hello,
my 2015 Fit has 195,xxx mi. on it.
I got an oil change on the 1st of the month and in 18 days it’s already at 10%.
I drive a lot of mi. in general but don’t recall the oil life dropping so fast.
Is this something that goes quicker as the car ages, or should I be concerned about an oil leak?

When I bought my Fit on Oct 31st, the OLM said I only had 60% left (despite the service receipt indicating an oil change was done less than a week before).
You can chalk that up to lazy technicians
Oil Change Gauge Reminder Re-set.
I make sure after I get my oil change that the oil gauge reminder is set to 100% before I drive off.
One time the Honda Tech forgot to re-set my oil gauge reminder to 100%. I had to drive back to the Dealer. Good I wasn't far away. Just a few stop lights away.

I don't use the silly oil counter. I change my oil twice a year (used to be once a year) based on my schedule. Whenever the oil thing pops up a message I simply reset it without paying any attention to it. My changes are beyond anything Honda recommends.
Since oil quality is probably the most important engine maintenance you can do, the oil life reminder should display when you start the engine, rather than having to scroll through the display to reach it. Honda, are you listening? BMW logically thought that out long time ago.
If I shut my car off displaying the oil life , it's still displaying on startup next time, but ours is an LX, so maybe that has something to do with that "ability", dunno....I just leave it on Trip A, I know how many miles I've added since last oil change and when next one should be done
