First Oil Change

First Oil Change
My question is this? When should the first oil change be made. I have been told by one Fit owner that the first oil change should not be made before 10000 miles since the oil origianlly installed is a special oil that is intended to be in the engine for the first 10000 miles.
In the old days you were told to change the oil in a new car after about 3000 miles to get out any metal chips that occured during break-in. When should I make my first oil change ( BTW I got the dealer to throw in three oil changes when I bought my new Fit)?

i just went with the oil life indicator and changed the oil for the first time at 7500miles an 10% left.

I had synthetic oil from the dealer and they put a sticker on the windshield saying that the oil should be changed at 5,000 mile. That was the standard for synthetic oil, as far as I know. If it should be changed later than 5,000 miles I would like to know as well. Otherwise I'll be changing it in another 1,100 mile when I hit 5,000.

I'm with FikseRxSeven on this, I just follow what my Fit tells me. I just got an oil change today, even though the indicator said 70%. I don't think there's such a special oil added when you first get the car so it breaks in easier, I think it's just regular. Also I don't think it would it be beneficial to the engine to run on "dirty" oil during this period, or any other there after. Plus I have three free oil changes at my dealer, I gotta use them sometime
