Corrosion on door handle brackets

FYI, I have one of the first 2015 Fits made. Due to an accident the body shop had to replace my passenger door. Here is the problem, they found that the brackets that hold the door handles on are corroded !! I live in southern calif and the car is garaged. I showed the dealership the photos and had no problems with them replacing them and giving me a rental car. All 4 doors were affected. This might be something everyone need to have checked out. Sorry but I don't know how to posts pics here from my phone but trust me we are talking major corrosion that shocked the body shop!

Thanks for the notice, I will check it out. When did you get your fit? Do you know your manufacture date?

i believe the manufacture date was march. I bought one of the first ones made before the they changed the front bumper frame.

i dont think you can, i think its the bracket the door handle screws too, of course they say the rust may streak the paint, so you may be able to see it but i doubt it. recall confirmed by canadian honda dealer i am booked in to get them replaced thsi froday!

Unbelievable there is no recalls in the US. We had the worst winter last year in New England, I am sure this thing is already rusted lol.

Unless it's a safety issue it probably won't be a recall item in the US, so, basically, we're screwed.

I stand corrected,,by myself....i think you CAN see it, at least i think i can on mine.. OK drivers side door, pull outer handel out, look on the far right of what the handel uncovered , on mine there is a "metal piece" it looks like,(full height) at the BOTTOM of that metal piece im pretty sure i can see rust. ONLY at the bottom...confirmed on drivers side passenger door also, identical.

forgive the picture quality, it was the best i could do, but i think you can see the corossion...in the bottom rh side.

good news, if you roll down the windows and look down the crack, you can see the rusty bracket, it is HARD on the drivers door, but MUCH easiler on the REAR passenger door!

Just brought mine in for it's first oil change and was told my car will need this fix. Thing that kills me is they need to take all the doors apart to do it, and I fear squeaks and rattles will result.

Not to mention that I HATE the thought of rust on a 1 year old car....

Yes but I live in Boston, MA. This is now also a US issue, not just Canada.

My dealership here just got the bulletin for this and I have scheduled an appointment for it to be addressed.

Just wanted everyone to know that. It's not just a Canadian model issue any more.

Mine was made in March '14 also. Can we expect yet another recall?

Mine was built 11/14. Purchased 1/15.

Not sure it's a safety recall- more of a service bulletin.

Rust, where there ain't supposed to be any, on something that opens the doors, would be a safety item IMO.

Does anybody actually have a link to this service bulletin, or a copy of this they can post? Without this my dealer will do nothing.

Nothing shows up in a web search of service bulletins.
