Unhappy My car smells like it where burning

Hello all

For the last week my car has been smiling like if it where burning (oil). I though it was the clutch but it is not or maybe because I was speeding but also happened in a short trip in the lower 35 miles. The car it is still in the first 3 miles so I though it was because I did;t change oil as the dealer put it mandatory here in my country.

So I do not know what it is. Any help to diagnose will be helpful.

If brand spankin new with 0 miles you are likely smelling the assemly ouls and paint layer burning off with the engine hwat. Its fairly normal. It will go away eventually

I have had the car since january and it didn't smell until this week that it rain. So I am afraid some water got into the motor or I don;t know it is the only think that pops into my mind. I am afraid to drive it and then the guarantee will not be granted. Honda dear is a far from where I live but it might be worth it the try.

Look under the car, see if anything has stuck and melted to the exhaust pipes. (plastic shopping bag?) You may not see anything hanging down, plastic can adhere to hot exhaust pipe tightly.
See if any oil leaks are noticed under the car too.

An almost routine complaint on the CR-V forums is the 'burning smell' that the hot exhaust emits during rainy driving. I've been on those forums more than 10 years now and different people whine about it 3 - 4 times a year.

By all means look for a plastic bag (BTDT) but if you don't find anything, don't worry.

I have noticed a burning rubber smell after going up large hills. I think its something to do with the CVT belt. I plan to talk to my mechanic about it next time I'm in.

Thanks all.

Aparentar as ozone said, it was a plastic not visible from above without equipment. The dealer tried to took it of but he told me to wait and it will disappear by itself. So no major issue.

Open the hood. Make sure the oil cap is screwed on and make sure the dip stick in shoved all the way in, otherwise the smell of burning oil will seep into the cabin.

I had a plastic bag blow under mine and melt to the downpipe, still smell it a bit almost two months later. Hopefully I can get under there with a wirebrush and a torch soon.
