How much should one expect to pay for a key copy? I know with a transponder they're expensive as hell, but just the mechanical version to unlock the driver's door in case I lock my keys in the car? I was at a Home Depot and they said they can't copy it there, so I'm assuming it's a bit more difficult than your typical old school 3 dollar key.

 

correct, it will be a couple hundred bucks with programming for a full transponder key/remote.

car won't let you lock the keys in it, so that is a non issue.

incorrect. the actual key to unlock the tumbler on the doors is simple. cost me $7 for the key cut from a local Honda dealer.

Wait really? If I turn the car off and pull out the key, open the door and hit lock, it won't do anything since the door is open?

 

not sure what you are trying to ask. with the ex, if you leave the keyfob in the car, it won't let you lock the door. that is what i am referring to.

not sure about the lx, i am guessing you can lock the keys in the car if you do what you propose. how about trying it and letting us know?
